Martin Kabrhel Plays the Bubble

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

While hand for hand was going on Martin Kabrhel was certainly enjoying the experience even if his table mates weren’t too impressed. He was taking his time and repeatedly asking to see how many chips his opponents had. It was clearly irritating one or two and amusing some others. But it is not Kabrhel’s job to make friends. Every time action was folded to Kabrhel he min-raised and navigated from there.

Just before the bubble burst Kabrhel opened for 12,000 and picked up one late position caller.

The flop was {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Kabrhel continued for a paltry 12,000 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {a-Hearts} and Kabrhel bet 16,000 this time and once more got a call.

The {3-Hearts} was the river card and Kabrhel spent quite some time assembling a bet which he eventually toppled across the table. The dealer pulled it together and this time the bet was a big 111,000. His opponent folded.

Karol Radomski Bursts WSOPC Main Event Bubble

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

[Removed:197] opened to 14,000 from the hijack and Karol Radomski moved all in from the button for 88,000. It folded back around to [Removed:198] who called.

[Removed:198]: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Radomski: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The board came {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Radomski was eliminated in 72nd place. The remaining 71 players are all guaranteed €3,610.

Jeremy Williams Doubles Up on the Bubble

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jeremy Williams opened to 12,000 from under the gun. It folded to Lambros Vrakas in the hijack who three-bet to 27,000. Williams called.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Williams checked to his opponent who bet 35,000. Williams moved all in and Vrakas called.

The players waited until play at all other tables had finished before Williams opened {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Vrakas {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

"Put a queen out there on the turn," said Williams as the turn came {a-Spades}. The river was the {q-Diamonds}, Williams said "Thank you," and turned to the waiting field to see if they had lost a player "We got no worries, winner winner!"

Bubble Tactics Discussion

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

At least one table was having a discussion on whether stalling tactics around the bubble was acceptable, not a new topic by any means but a perennially occurring one. Some thought two minutes was the acceptable limit before the clock should be called. Others didn’t care either way and could understand why people did it.

No player was particularly enamoured with the situation but it ended in seeming agreement, for now, “Let everyone play how they want to play.”

Tomas Soderstrom Busts

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

It folded to Tomas Soderstrom in the small blind and he moved all in for 200,000.

Perhaps a standard fold for plenty of players in the big blind but he could afford it and the bubble dynamic was firmly in play. Could Soderstrom be at it? The all in was called.

Soderstrom twirled the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} in the air and his opponent revealed his {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

The board ran out {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Soderstrom graciously accepted his exit from the tournament as the bubble crept ever closer.

Dinner Break As Bubble Looms

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The remaining players are on a 45-minute dinner break.

With the board showing 79 players remaining and 71 getting paid the bubble will burst when they return.

The 500 chips will also be coloured up during the break,

“What A Call!” – Ferreira Doubles Up

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} with just over 50,000 in the middle and Jan Mach checked it to Goncalo Jose Ribeiro Ferreira who bet 23,500.

Mach responded by moving all in and Ferreira asked for a count. It was 159,000 which was right around what Ferreira himself had left.

Ferreira studied his opponent, asked him some questions, doing everything possible to get a response, to somehow find out where he was. Mach though did not move a muscle. He barely even blinked.

The clock was called and the countdown began. With close to 30 seconds left Ferreira called the table craned their necks to see what each player had.

Mach turned over {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Ferreira had risked it all with {j-Spades}{9-Spades}

It wasn’t over yet though. The dealer put a {q-Diamonds} on the turn and the river was the {9-Hearts}. Trips in the end for Ferreira.

“What a call. What a play!” exclaimed Yehuda Cohen as Ferreira got a fist bump from another player.

There was respect for both players round the table as most agreed they put Mach on a strong hand but also had admiration for the gutsy call.

Ferreira doubled up and Mach was left with a bowl of rice.
