Moore Makes Good River Call

Level 5 : 200/300, 300 ante

There was heads-up action on a completed board showing {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}.

With 10,000 already in the middle, Megan Moore lead out 1,400 from the cutoff and Peter Walsworth raised to 8,000.

After a minute or so in the tank, Moore tossed in a 5,000 chip for the called and both players tabled their hands.

Megan Moore: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Peter Walsworth: {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}

Walsworth couldn't get Moore off her pocket pair and she raked in the decent-sized pot.

Gerald Denicholas

On a flop of {k-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} Gediminas Uselis checked to Rayan Chamas who bet out 1,200, Gerry Denicholas raised to 2,400 and the action was back on Uselis who put in a stack of 5,000 chips to equal 35,000. Chamas got out of the way and Denicholas called off his remaining 4,200 chips.

Gediminas Uselis: {2-Spades}{3-Spades}
Gerry Uselis: {q-Spades}{9-Spades}

Uselis was leading with his pair of threes but the turn {5-Spades} left him drawing to a straight flush which couldn't connect as the {5-Hearts} landed on the river doubling Denicholas up. "Thanks for the call," Denicholas joked as he scooped the pot.

A late position player opened for 800 and James Baune jammed for 10,200 from the cutoff. Action folded around to Nathan Russler in the big blind who moved all in for 13,500 and was called by the initial raiser.

James Baune: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Nathan Russler: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Baune held the best hand but it was short-lived after the {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop paired Russler and gave the initial raiser a flush draw.

The turn came the {j-Clubs} giving Baune a draw to broadway but the river fell a blank with the {8-Clubs} giving Russler the pot.

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Main Event and High Roller, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant.

In Event #2: $400 NLH Double Stack, 278 runners created a $91,740 prize pool that was paid out to the top 42 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Patrick Cantrell (10th - $1,402), Megan Moore (16th - $977), Cole Sudeck (28th - $616), Trevor Hempel (36th - $562), and Allen Kessler (41st - $557).

In the end, Andy Robinson bested Laura Curry in heads-up play to win the title and $21,263 first-place prize. It marked his seventh career gold ring and third at Choctaw Durant.

“I mean, I’ve played with all these people before and I think they are really good, but I trust myself,” Robinson said of the tough final table.

Of his heads-up opponent, he added: “She’s very aggressive. I mean, she’s tough to play against. Most people are much more passive.”

Hinton Gets Another Double

Level 4 : 100/200, 200 ante

The action began with the hijack raising to 500, Antoine Norris called next to act while Mark Toulouse three-bet to 1,200 from the small blind. Clyde Hinton made the call in the big blind as did the original raiser and Norris.

The flop fell {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and all three players checked to Norris who fired out 2,000 and only Hinton came along.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and Hinton check-called a bet of 4,000. On the {7-Clubs} river Hinton announced all-in and Norris asked for a count. After finding out it was 12,700 he made the call.

Hinton tabled {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered two pair and Norris tabled the losing {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for top pair missed flush draw.

Blake Whittington
Blake Whittington

After no initial raise, five players saw a {4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop. Megan Moore lead out for 700 from the small blind and the big blind player called. Action was on Blake Whittington who raised to 3,100 from under the gun and he was called by Moore.

The {q-Clubs} turn was checked by both players to the {8-Spades} river where Moore fired out 1,300 and called Whittington's 5,000 raise.

Moore tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a pair of jacks but it was no good as Whittington tabled {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to scoop the pot.
