Garcia Gaining

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

In the span of a few minutes Cord Garcia busted an opponent and then won a couple of hands being the agressor by forcing folds from his opponents to add a significant amount of chips to his stack.

Garcia won his third circuit ring this week at Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek and is looking to make this stop even better for himself with a good run in the Main Event.

Sullivan Takes More From Reyes and Busts Opponent

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

In a three-way pot on a board that read {9-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} on the turn, Russell Sullivan bet 15,000 which was called by Jose Reyes and by the third player in the hand, who was put all in by the bet.

The river came the {k-Diamonds}. Sullivan made a bet large enough to put Reyes all in and Reyes swiftly folded. Sullivan turned over the {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} while the all in player mucked and got up from the table as Sullivan surged even higher in chips.

Genachte Befuddles Moses

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Action was on the river with a pot of about 40,000 in the middle on a board that read {9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Daniel Genachte made a bet of 25,200 which sent David Moses deep into the tank.

Moses talked it out, wondering the type of hands that Genachte could have. He mentioned the speed at which Genachte had bet, which made Moses wonder if the ace on the river had meant anything to his opponent.

After several moments the clock was called and the floor came over to administer the countdown As the clock reached zero, Moses folded his hand and Genachte turned over the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for simply a low pocket pair.

Moses shook his head and said that he had folded the best hand, two pair with the {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and continued to bemoan the bad run out as Genachte took in the pot.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at Florida’s Seminole Coconut Creek to live report action from both the $2,200 High Roller and $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

In Event #8: $600 NLH Turbo, 84 runners created a $43,260 prize pool that was paid out to the top 13 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Tomas Teran Paredes (10th - $961), Hagai Stein (11th - $961), Dragan Lunic (12th - $961), and Ryan Van Sanford (13th - $872).

In the end, WSOP bracelet winner “Colossus” Cord Garcia denied Event #4 champ Scott Robert his second ring of the stop. For the victory, Garcia took home $13,098 and his third career gold ring.

“I doubled somebody up the first hand of the final table so I went back into top four,” said Garcia, who began the final table as chip leader. “But then a couple of shorties busted and I got lucky once. It went pretty smooth.”

Sullivan Shoves Out Reyes

Level 7 : 300/500, 500 ante

Action was picked up on the river with the board reading {3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Jose Reyes bet 7,000 into Russell Sullivan who waited for a few moments before sticking a large stack of the big chips into the middle to put Reyes all in.

Reyes frowned and thought for about 20 seconds before relenting to the pressure and folding his hand.
