Smiljkovic Takes Chip Lead into Final Day; Kabrhel, Gotsadze, and Zoufri Still In Too

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Daniel Smiljkovic
Daniel Smiljkovic

Day 2 of the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov €1,700 Main Event is in the books after fifteen levels of play. Over the 2 starting days, 549 entries were collected with 241 players returning at the start of Day 2 for a shot at their share of the €1,103,500 guaranteed prize pool. As the registration and reentry period was open for the first two levels of the day, the action was hot and heavy with an additional 101 entries coming in. In the end, the 650 buy-ins weren’t enough to surpass the guarantee.

Twenty-three players will return for the final day on Monday, April 1 at 2 PM local time to battle it out for the first-place prize of €190,000, the additional WSOPE Main Event ticket worth €10,350, and the WSOP Circuit Ring. Taking the overnight chip lead is only the Fuchsbau player left, Daniel Smiljkovic who bagged 2,335,000 in chips. Smiljkovic went up and down the chip counts throughout the day but managed to chip up during the latter levels of the day.

Second in the chip counts is Gaga Gotsadze whose table got moved to the feature stage after the dinner break and never left again. The most notable hand was the one where he eliminated both Ladislav Cerveny and Yunsheng Sun when he hit a runner-runner flush. Even though that didn’t add a huge amount to his stack, this was the signal for him to start running through his table. In the end, Gotsadze tagged 2,265,000 chips. Gotsadze finished in fifth place in the WSOPC Main Event in October so will be trying to improve on that result.

Paul van Oort finishes the day third in the counts, some of those chips were won when he eliminated Claudio Di Giacomo with a full house over flush situation. The Dutchman put 2,140,000 into his seal bag which is worth 36 big blinds when play resumes again. Other players who have bagged over 2 million are Harry Ross (2,115,000), Martin Kabrhel (2,040,000), and Simone Agnoletto (2,015,000).

Wissam Turkie and Moreno Plozza
Wissam Turkie burst the bubble by eliminating Moreno Plozza

Wissam Turkie is next in the chip counts with 1,955,000 and was also responsible for bursting the bubble when he eliminated Moreno Plozza in a cooler when Plozza had turned the nut-flush to find out that Turkie had a straight flush. WSOPC PLO High Roller winner Pierre Christensen will be bringing 20 big blinds to the final day in an attempt to win his second ring within five days. Abdelhakim Zoufri already has a WSOPC Main Event Ring when he won it in Rotterdam in 2017. He has ten big blinds so has some work ahead of him.

Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Kabrhel already has 4 rings and 2 WSOP bracelets but he probably wouldn’t mind adding another one to his collections. Kabrhel was his usual self all day long, audible from every corner of the biggest poker room in Europe and had a busy day building up his stack, doubling other players up, and eliminating opponents left, right, and center. Some of the eliminated players today who didn’t make it through but did cash include Andrej Imrich, Jaroslav Peter, Emil Bise, Grzegorz Wyraz, Alexandre Viard, Roman Sahin, and Josef Snejberg.

The final day will resume with 23 players in Level 28 which features a small blind of 30,000, big blind of 60,000, and the big blind ante of 60,000. Level duration will be increased to 60 minutes and they will be playing down until a winner has been determined. Everyone is guaranteed to collect at least €7,181 but they will all be aiming for more!

Make sure to come back at 2 PM local time to follow the updates from the PokerNews live reporting team to see who will be taking the Main Event down here at the King's Resort.

Vazha Kometiani shoved all in for 905,000 from the button and so did Andrej Imrich in the small blind for 315,000. Philipp Luetkemeier decided to call for just over 400,000 he had behind in the big blind.

Andrej Imrich: {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Philipp Luetkemeier: {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Vazha Kometiani: {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}

Plozza Bubbles With a Cooler

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Wissam Turkie and Moreno Plozza
Wissam Turkie and Moreno Plozza

In the seventh hand of hand-for-hand play, Wissam Turkie raised to 40,000 on the bubble and Moreno Plozza called in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Spades}, Plozza bet 25,000 and Turkie made the call.

The turn was the {a-Spades}, Plozza shoved for 250,000 exactly and Turkie called again. They had to wait for all action to be completed on the other tables before the hole cards could go on their backs but when they did, the whole table audibly gasped.

Turkie tabled {5-Spades}{3-Spades} for the straight flush. Plozza looked a bit stunned and flipped over {k-Spades}{10-Spades}. Plozza just sat there while the dealer tried to get him to move his stack forward. In the end, Plozza got up and went to talk to a friend about what had just happened.

The tournament director announced that everyone was in the money which generated some cheers and applause.

The pot contained around 80,000 with four players involved on the {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop.

Daniel Szymanski bet 45,000 from the big blind and Hrair Yapoudjian contemplated from a while in the under-the-gun position but opted to fold in the end. Martin Kabrhel glanced at his opponents' stacks and decided to go all-in, having both of his opponents covered. Akan Kaya quickly folded his button but Szymanski snap-called for the 97,000 he had extra.

Daniel Szymanski: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Martin Kabrhel: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Szymanski held the overpair but Kabrhel had flopped a set.

The rest of the board was completed with the {j-Diamonds} on the turn and the {2-Spades} on the river for Szymanski to be eliminated by Kabrhel.

Wheeler Takes Chip Lead

Level 15 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Braz Fagundes Junior raised to 6,000 from the cutoff and Wojciech Wyrebski three-bet to 23,000 on the button. Jason Wheeler decided to four-bet to 56,000 in the big blind and only Fagundes Junior called.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Wheeler continued with a bet of 55,000 and Fagundes Junior called.

The turn brought them the {8-Spades}, Wheeler shoved and Fagundes Junior asked for a count. The dealer confirmed Wheeler had 130,500 behind. Fagundes Junior took about two minutes before the clock was called on him. The floor came over and soon Fagundes Junior made the call for the approximately 125,000 he had behind.

Braz Fagundes Junior: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Jason Wheeler: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Fagundes Junior was behind against Wheeler's higher pocket pair but still had any nine or queen as an out.

The river completed the board with the {5-Clubs} and Fagundes Junior was sent to the rail while Wheeler jumped to the top of the chip counts.
