Ferguson Doubles Through Banducci; Takes the Chip Lead!

In a hand that saw a slew of pre-flop raising and re-raising, Chris Ferguson found himself in a coinflip situation against Michael Banducci, holding A-K against Banducci's pocket queens. The pot was worth a little more than 250,000 in chips - hands down the biggest pot of the tournament, thus far.

Chris spiked an ace on the flop, which was all he'd need to take down the pot, earning himself a commanding chip lead over the field. Though it was a monstrous hit to Banducci's stack, he's still sitting with a very manageable 130,000 in chips.

Lane Eliminated by Fox

The eliminations are happening at an insanely fast pace and we've just lost another one in Dennis Lane who was sent to the rail by Dustin Fox.

The money went in on the {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} flop and Fox had the best of it, revealing {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for top pair, top kicker; Lane tabled {A-Spades}{2-Spades} and would need to catch a two to stay alive. The turn and river came {J-Spades}, {5-Spades} and Fox's A-K would hold up to take down the pot.

Lane took hom $8,814 for his 13th place finish.

Early Chip Leader Kevin Vanderbeek Eliminated

Kevin Vanderbeek started the day with 88,000 in chips and maintained the tournament chip lead for much of the day. In a shocking turn of events, Vanderbeek's run has come to an end after a major confrontation with new tournament chip leader Michael Banducci.

Vanderbeek had made it 11,000 to go from late position and Banducci re-popped it 16,500 more; Vanderbeek called.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Banducci led out with a 20,000 bet. Vanderbeek then moved all in over the top and Banducci insta-called, tabling pocket aces; Vanderbeek produced A-Q for top pair, top kicker.

Vanderbeek would need to spike one of the two remaining queens in the deck to stay alive, but the turn and river came 9-9, effectively eliminating Vanderbeek from the main event.

For his 14th place finish, Vanderbeek took home $8,814 in prize money.

Wong Eliminated by Banducci

Marty Wong was just eliminated from the tournament by Michael Banducci after running his pocket eights into the pocket kings of Banducci.

The board filled out {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Banducci's kings held up to win the pot.

For his 15th place finish, Wong earned $8,814 in prize money.

Tighe Eliminated by Ferguson

Chris Ferguson came over the top of a pre-flop raise from Michael Banducci that caused him to fold, isolating Gary Tighe and himself heads-up, effectively completing the action in the hand.

Ferguson showed {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Tighe tabled pocket nines. The board filled out {2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{A-Clubs} and the ace on the river gave Ferguson the best hand, eliminating Tighe from the tournament in 16th place.

For his efforts, Tighe received $7,458 in prize money.

Double Whammy

Shortly after the players got comfortable in their new seats, Gabriel Testa eliminated both Vic Campana and Vincent Shaw on the same hand when his pocket nines held up against Campana's Q-J and Shaw's A-J.

Shaw started the hand with more chips than Campana, thereby giving him 17th place, though both players received an equal $7,458 in prize money.

The Bubble has Burst

Eric Tang fought off elimination long and hard, playing short-stacked for the better part of the day, but his run has just come to an end.

Getting the rest of his money into the middle holding K-Q, Tang was called by both Kevin Vanderbeek and Michael Banducci.

The board filled out {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Banducci and Vanderbeek had checked every street until the river, when Banducci tossed a 5,000 bet into the pot. "Seriously?" asked Vanderbeek, who seemed perplexed by the play.

"OK, I call," Kevin continued, prompting Banducci to turn over {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the absolute nuts.

With Tang's elimination, the remaining 18 players are officially in the money and are currently redrawing for new seats.

Short Stacks Fighting Tough

The tournament's shortest stacks belong to Eric Tang, Marty Wong and Gary Tighe and none of them seem ready to give up the good fight just yet.

Both Wong and Tighe have doubled up in the last five minutes, while Tang is down to his last 2,200 in chips.
