Cristian Bedoya - 5th Place Finisher
Cristian Bedoya - 5th Place Finisher
Short-stacked Cristian Avendano open-shoved all in from under the gun and the action folded around to Kenny Bedoya, who made the call; all others got out of the way.

Bedoya: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Avendano: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The hand was virtually settled after the flop came {8-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} and cemented on the turn, which brought the {4-Spades}.

Avendano picked up $42,408 for his fifth-place finish, while Kenny Bedoya added another 200,000+ in chips to his stack.

Gavin Smith Eliminated in 6th Place ($35,340)

Gavin is Gonzo
Gavin is Gonzo
Gavin Smith will have to wait for his first World Series of Poker win. He was eliminated by Kenny Bedoya after shoving all in for his last 93,000 in chips from middle position with {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Bedoya called from the button with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}. The {4-Clubs}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Hearts} board was unfriendly to Gavin, and he'll watch the rest of the tournament from the rail, or go have a drink in steakhouse.

Chip Leader Pads His Stack

Tournament chip leader David Peters just added a few more chips to his stack after taking a decent sized pot from Gavin Smith with an all-in bet on the turn.

With the board showing {7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, Smith checked to Peters who quickly moved in, forcing Gavin out of the pot.

Peters has built his stack up to approximately 1,150,000 since the start of the day.

Lee Watkinson Eliminated in 7th Place ($28,272)

Lee Watkinson - 7th Place Finisher
Action folded around to Lee Watkinson in the cutoff who open-shoved all in for approximately 90,000 in chips. Gavin Smith then moved all in over the top of Watkinson's raise from the button, forcing both blinds out of the pot.

Smith: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Watkinson: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} bringing no help to Watkinson, who was eliminated from the tournament in seventh place, worth $28,272.

Big Stacks Battle

David Peters raised to 40,000 under the gun and Edward Sabat re-raised to 120,000 on the button. David made the call and the flop came {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. David bet out 100,000 and Edward called. The turn brought the {6-Clubs}, David went all in for his last 500,000 and Edward folded. After the takedown, Peters became the first player to cross the 1,000,000-chip threshold. Sabat is left with 520,000.

Damien Oborne Eliminated in 8th Place ($21,204)

Action folded around to David Peters on the button who opened with a standard raise. Action then fell to Damien Oborne in the small blind who moved all in for a total of approximately 105,000. Peters made the call and tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts}; Oborne flipped over {A-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a slight lead.

Damien cringed when the doorcard brought the {10-Clubs}, which did the heavy damage, and the rest of the board filled out {3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs} sending the young Aussie to the rail in eighth place, good for a $21,204 payday.

Cristian Avendano Doubles Through Kenny Bedoya

Kenny Bedoya raised to 30,000 from the cutoff. Cristian Avendano put the rest of his 115,000 chip stack in from the big blind and Kenny made the call. The players soon found out they were racing when Bedoya flipped up {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Avendano showed {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Avendano did his best Maurice Green impression, sprinting to the lead when the flop came {2-Hearts}{A-Spades}{4-Spades} and Bedoya failed to hit his set or gutshot when the turn and river came {8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Avendano now has 240,000.
