Play Resumes

The players have returned from break and the cards are in the air.

Of note - the fire alarm went off inside Harrah's during the break, setting off a number of flashing strobe lights around the room, along with a very loud and pulsating warning siren. Fortunately, it was a false alarm and the playing conditions have returned to normal.

Chop It Up

Action folded around to Gavin Smith on the button who moved all in for an amount just over 100,000 in chips. David Peters snap-called from the small blind and Damien Oborne tanked for a moment before eventually folding his big blind.

Smith: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Peters: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{A-Spades}{2-Spades} and the pot was divided in two. We were unable to find out what Oborne folded pre-flop, but by the look on his face, it appears as though he folded the would-be winner.

Jon Eaton Eliminated in 9th Place ($14,136)

Jon Eaton - 9th Place Finisher
Jon Eaton - 9th Place Finisher
Moments after doubling through Gavin Smith, Jon Eaton put his new chips back into action against David Peters, this time holding {A-Spades}{J-Spades} against the {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds} of David Peters. Unfortunately for Eaton, the {5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{A-Clubs} board gave Peters a rivered Broadway straight which would be good enough to take down the pot.

Eaton picked up $14,136 in prize money for his ninth-place finish.

Jon Eaton Doubles Through Gavin Smith

Gavin Smith raised to 22,000 from the cutoff. Jon Eaton made the call out of the big blind and shoved all in for his last 39,000 on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Gavin reluctantly called the bet, flipping up {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. Eaton flipped up {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for top pair. The {5-Hearts}{8-Spades} on the turn and river offered Smith no help and Jon doubled to 125,000.
