First Elimination of the Day

Arturo Diaz became the first eliminated player when his {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} hit a strong flop of {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Diaz got all his money in against Russell Powell, who held pocket jacks. Powell was left drawing to a jack, which he hit on the turn, giving him jacks full of threes. The river {K-Diamonds} was of no help to Diaz, who was the first player sent to the rail.

Oborne Cripples Yang Early

WSOP Champ Jerry Yang has lost the vast majority of his stack to T6 Poker's Damien Oborne in a battle of pure aggression.

Pre-flop, Yang made it 200 from the button holding J-9 offsuit, and Oborne re-raised to 650 from the big blind with A-J. Yang made the call, and the flop came king-high, all spades. Oborne made it 800 to go, and Yang raised to 3,000; Oborne called. The turn was a blank, and Oborne fired 6,000 at the pot. Yang called again. The last card off the deck was an ace. Oborne checked, Yang bet 8,000 and after a long think, Oborne called and his pair of aces was good enough to take down the pot.

After the hand, Yang was left with less than 2000 in chips while Oborne climbed to 37,000.

2008 WSOP Circuit Event - Rincon

Live coverage of the 2008 World Series of Poker Circuit Event at Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. local time.

The tournament staff expects a turnout of approximately 170 runners in this year's $5,000 Championship Event, which would generate a prizepool of over three quarters of a million dollars.

Peter "Nordberg" Feldman is the reigning Rincon circuit champ. Feldman bested a field of 181 entrants last February en route to collecting a $280,859 payday and his second gold championship ring, joining Chris "Jesus" Ferguson as the only two players to have won multiple circuit titles.

PokerNews is on site and gearing up to bring you complete coverage of the event from start to finish, beginning with today's Day 1 action. We're your one-stop shop for live updates, chip counts and photos direct from the tournament floor. Stick with us this Super Tuesday for all of your WSOP-C Rincon needs!
