The field size continues to grow and grow as more tables begin to fill up with players at King's Casino for the WSOP Circuit Main Event Day 1b. We are now at 296 entrants on the day just a little more than an hour into the tournament.
With almost 90 minutes of play in the books on Day 1a, none of the 300 entrants on the day have yet to hit the shower. With less players yesterday in Day 1a, there were a few early bustouts with the first player leaving and reentering the tournament after just 10 minutes.
The blinds just went up to 75/150 as the third level begins. Players will be able to get up and stretch for a 15 minute break after this level is completed.
Among those to just join the field is 2012 World Series of Poker PLO bracelet winner Jan-Peter Jachtmann. Jachtmann already has a deep finish to his name during this tournament series, taking second place in the PLO High Roller event for €29,400. Jachtmann was also among those to reenter the €25,000 Super High Roller last night after also entering that tournament the previous day.
Players are starting to pile in for the €200 side event that begins in 15 minutes. Despite this tournament not being a ring event, the tournament features a healthy €40,000 guarantee and is the only tournament running today outside the Main Event and the Last Minute Rebuy Satellite at 20:00 CET. So far 60 players have already registered, with the tournament director believing this event will easily eclipse the guarantee.
Ireland's Andrew King propels himself among the chip leaders while also having the honor of knocking out the first player of the day. Players were all in on the turn, when King showed his opponent he was drawing dead after showing his quad aces.
King is no stranger to big scores in main events, as he previously won the 2013 WPT Merit National Event Cyprus $2,200 buy-in No Limit Hold'em Main Event two years ago for a healthy $126,628 after winning €100,000 a few months earlier by taking second place in the 2013 FPS Deauville Main Event.
The ninth edition of the PokerNews Cup is just around the corner, taking place right here at the King's Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic from Nov. 18-23.
The series is highlighted by the €250 buy-in PokerNews Cup Main Event, which features three opening days on Nov. 19-21 before the action heats up with the final two days of play on Nov. 22 & 23.
The field is up to 327 entrants, and we now have our second casualty of the day. Hakan Öztürk was able to get it all-in before the flop in heads-up play. Öztürk was holding to his opponent's , and his hand held up to give him a huge 53,000 chip stack.
Lots of chatter with almost all of the 330 entrants standing up and walking around to enjoy a 15 minute break. Blinds will be at 100/200 when play resumes with the majority of the field still hovering around their 30,000 starting chip stack.
