Annie Duke Takes a Big Hit

After a raise to $300 from middle position Annie Duke kicks it up to $950. The original raiser calls and they see a flop of {8-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {6-Clubs}. The original raiser bets $1,400 and Duke again kicks it up, this time to $4,500, and again she's called. Both players check the {7-Diamonds} on the turn and when the {5-Hearts} puts four to a straight on the board both players check again. The other player showed the {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} for the flopped set and Duke mucked.

Todd Brunson Doubles Up

On a board of {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Todd Brunson check-raised all in. His opponent went into the tank for two minutes before he said, "I gotta call. I think you've got me."

Brunson said, "I probably do."

Brunson flipped over {K-Spades}{9-Spades} for top pair and a flush draw. His opponent tabled 5-5 for a set. The river was the {J-Spades} and Brunson doubled up.

Phil Galfond Doubles Up on Doubling Up

There's no better way to get healthy in a hurry than doubling up twice. After a {3-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} flop both players checked, but after the {2-Clubs} fell on the turn Galfond check-raised all-in for 1,200 more after inducing a 3,000 bet. His opponent called and showed pocket Aces--Galfond turned over {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts} for the nut straight and doubled up.

The very next hand he and J.C. Tran got all the money in before the flop, and Galfond had A-K to Tran's A-Q. Galfond flopped a king to put an end to the drama and now has about a 12K stack.

Gus Hansen Tries to Psych Out Chad Layne

Chad Layne limped from the small blind, and Gus Hansen checked his option in the big blind. The flop came {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, Layne checked, and before Hansen could act, the dealer burned a card and started to flip over the turn card. The dealer stopped before the card was visible to Layne and Hansen, but players on the other side got a good look at it. There was a brief debate about whether or not to call over a floorperson, but Layne and Hansen agreed to just show the card. (Hansen checked for his action on the flop.)

The turn card was the {Q-Clubs}, and Hansen said "Yes!" as if it made his hand. But Layne was unfazed, and bet 125. Hansen gave up the ruse and quickly folded.
