Now That's a Good Laydown

Minh Ly raised to 3,600 and Mike Matusow, who has been bullying his table with big re-raises, did just that by popping it to 10,000. Ly didn't think long before folding his A-K face-up. Matusow then showed his two red aces, and the two exchanged a friendly fist-bump.

Shirley Williams is Eliminated

Steering a short stack through most of the evening Shirley Williams moved in for 5,100 with {J-Clubs}{8-Spades} and ran into the big blind who had {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Williams flopped a jack and picked up an open-ended straight draw on the turn, but she didn't catch on the river and was eliminated.

Gotta Love This Game

Right before the break, Karen Thomas won a big pot when her aces held up against pocket kings. Karen apparently is the excitable sort, because she let out a loud squeal, jumped up on her chair, and did a little dance. And then, uh, she lifted her skirt and flashed the crowd.

The other players watched the performance and then quickly headed out for break.

Steve Dannenmann Doubles Up

Facing an all-in re-raise and holding pocket nines, Steve Dannenmann asked the other player, "Are you nervous?"

"Yes," was the reply.

"Me too," said Dannenmann. But he made the call, his opponent showed A-4, and Dannenmann's hand held up on a {Q-Spades}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts} board.
