"It's never easy . . . "

A player in late position goes all in preflop and Eugene Todd calls, having him covered. Todd has {A-Hearts}{A-Spades} to the unfortunate player's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. The opponent picks up a straight draw on the flip: {10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. It finishes out {Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, though, and Todd's opponent is out.

"It's never easy," Todd says of the outs his opponent picked up. "There's always a sweat."

Amir Vahedi Showing Discipline

Amir Vahedi called the big blind, middle position player raised to 2,100, and Vahedi called. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. The middle position player bet 3,100 and Vahedi began talking to himself, saying "stay disciplined, stay disciplined." After a long pause, he showed A-K, and mucked his hand.

Teddy Sheringham off the Soccer Field to the Felt

Teddy Sheringham has enjoyed one of the longest running careers in soccer history. However, it now appears that he is turning his attention to another competitive sport, poker. He was spotted playing in the tournament and having a good time of it. If he does as well at poker as he has at soccer, we will see a lot more of him.

"I couldn't believe you had a king . . . "

On a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, the small blind bets 2,500. T.J. Cloutier in the big blind raises to 4,000 and the small blind calls. The turn is the {4-Clubs}. The small blind goes all in and Cloutier calls for his last 8,000. Cloutier has {J-Spades}{Q-Spades} and his opponent has {K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The river is {A-Diamonds} and Cloutier is out.

"I couldn't believe you had a king in that position," Cloutier says.
After he leaves, another player says, "I can't believe he put all his money in like that."
