JC Tran Eliminated

JC Tran is OUT -- reduced to mere small change, he called all in with {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} to a raise from Tyler Sprague in late position. He was delighted to find himself ahead of Sprague's {6-Spades} {7-Spades}, but a {K-Spades} {7-Clubs} {3-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} board later, and he is gone.

Clonie Gowan Elliminated

"I'm down to just one pro in my section," reports a saddened field reporter, the latest player to depart from his immediate surroundings being Full Tilt's Clonie Gowan.

Pushing all in preflop from early position with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, Clonie was looked up a few seats down by {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}, which subsequently held up on a {6-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} board.

Scott Ian Doubles Through

Scott Ian
Scott Ian
The tournament's only Anthrax guitarist and red beard connoisseur has just doubled through to 7,000. All in with {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} against, er... {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Scott Ian flopped a straight on an {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} board to stay alive.

Hellmuth Hanging In There

Phil Hellmuth, short-stacked, has clawed a few chips back -- he's now on 3,750.

What happened before the river is unknown, but Hellmuth was in the small blind and his opponent in the big blind called a 900 bet from Hellmuth on the river of the {10-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {A-Spades} board. Hellmuth turned over {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds} and announced, "Nuts." Which is most likely how his opponent felt -- he mucked.
