Montgomery Jails the 'Unabomber'

A short-stacked Phil Laak got the last of his chips into the middle before the flop holding {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} and heads-up opponent Mans Montgomery looked him up with {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds}.

A {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} board fell in favor of Montgomery, whose A-J held up to secure him a spot in Round 2.

Ryan Young Defeats David Benyamine

On a flop of {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, Ryan Young checked, David Benymaine bet 1,200, Young raised to 4,000, Benyamine moved all in for 13,000 and Young called.

Benyamine {J-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

Young {2-Hearts} {7-Spades}

Young had flopped two pair with "The Hammer" while Benyamine held a flush draw. The turn, though, was the {10-Hearts} , the river was the {K-Spades} and Benyamine could not improve. He was eliminated and Young advanced to Round 2.

Lacay Rocks Aces; Defeats Potter

French pro Ludovic Lacay has just eliminated opponent Brandon Potter from the field.

The money got into the middle on a flop of {2-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {8-Clubs}; Potter's with {J-Clubs} {8-Spades} and Lacay's with {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}.

The {9-Clubs} fell on the turn giving Lacay an ace-high flush, further strengthening his grip on the hand, though Potter was not dead, as he could still spike the {10-Clubs} for a straight flush.

The river was an inconsequential {8-Diamonds} and Lacay scooped the pot, sending him through to Round 2.
