Raising Raymond

Raymond Davis has been raising a lot of pots on his table. He enters this pot with a raise and finds a caller in the small blind.

They check it all the way to the river, when the board is {9-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {a-Clubs} {K-Spades}.

Now Davis decides to bet 200 and his opponent calls. Davis' {A-?} {J-?} beats the {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} of his opponent.

Davis up to 5,000 now.

Small Man, Small Stack

Freddy Deeb raises to 275 from early position and gets one caller from late position. The flop is checked by both players.

At the turn stage, the board reads {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {5-Spades} {2-Diamonds}. Deeb bets 275 and his opponent calls.

They both check the {Q-Spades} river. "Ace king is good," says Deeb when he sees his opponent's {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. Deeb shows {A-?} {J-?}.

Deeb down to 1,500 now.

Back To the Day Job

Matt Loew, winner of a recent Poker News field-reporter freeroll, has been eliminated. Loew's bad run of luck included two "set over set" hands as well as flush against flush, all of which saw Loew with the inferior holding. With just a few chips left, Loew put the bulk of them in holding top two pair on a {A-?} {Q-?} {J-?} board but lost the hand when his opponent turned a set of tens.

Craig Gray Doubles Up

Craig Gray just took down a nice pot when his {Q-?} {Q-?} came out ahead against the {K-?} {K-?} of his opponent.

Gray and his opponent saw a flop of {J-?} {10-?} {9-?} and that's when the money went in. Gray needed help to win the hand, and help he got when the {8-?} hit the turn. The river came a {5-?} and Gray's straight was best. He doubled up to about 9,000 chips.

Madsen at It

A player in mid position raises to 250 and finds three callers.

The flop brings {Q-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}. It's checked to the initial raiser who bets 500. All fold except Jeff Madsen in the small blind who raises to 1,500.

The mid-position player calls all in with {K-Clubs} {J-Spades}. Madsen is on a flush draw with {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts}.

The turn comes {9-Hearts} and river {J-Hearts} to make the flush for Madsen, who eliminates his opponent.

Madsen up to 7,500 now.
