Paterson Takes One To Dinner

A player opened with a raise from the button and Stuart Paterson called from the small blind. The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Paterson led out but was raised all in by his opponent. Paterson insta-called with {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for a flopped set as his opponent grimaced and flipped {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and river the {K-Hearts} and Paterson will enjoy his dinner break with about 35,000 chips.

Mercier Takes a Big Hit

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier moved all in preflop and was called by a player in the one seat. Mercier showed {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} and his opponent showed {7-Spades} {8-Hearts} . The flop crushed Mercier when his opponent flopped a straight on a {4-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} board. The {Q-?} on the turn left Mercier drawing dead and Mercier is now down to 4,000 in chips.

Raymer's Revenge

Earlier we reported a hand where Greg Raymer was on the rough end of a bad beat holding pocket kings against {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Well Raymer has just had his revenge against the same opponent, Bill Wankey.

A short stacked Raymer moved the last of his chips from under-the-gun and Wankey made the call from early position.

"Is it aces or kings?" questioned Raymer.

"Neither" replied Wankey.

"Well then we know what this would be!" quipped Raymer as he revealed the {6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}! Wankey showed {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

However the board landed an amazing {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Spades} to give Raymer a flush and the double up.

"Justice!" exclaimed Raymer as he stays alive with about 6,000 chips.

David Pham Causing Batista Problems

David Pham has been playing back at Chad Batista for a while now. Just recently, a player in the cutoff raised and Batista reraised to around 4,200. David Pham proceeded to move over the top all in for 20,000, which forced both his opponents to fold.

Pham is sitting with 27,000 in chips and Batista is down to 12,000.

Beth Shak Doubles Up

Beth Shak
Beth Shak
After some preflop raising, Beth Shak moved her stack into the middle from early position on a flop of {J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}. She was quickly called by her opponent who tabled {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Shak would need some help with her {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Help is exactly what was delivered with the {8-Hearts} on the turn completing her gutshot straight draw. The {3-Diamonds} fell on the river and Shak is left stacking up 27,000 worth of chips.

Seat Open on 6! Seat Open on 4! Seat Open!

With around 20 minutes until the dinner break we are seeing a lot of players going all in. The mindset of a lot of players is that they will either build up some chips in order to make a run at day two, or go home. A lot of players would rather not wait 90 minutes in order to play a short stack. It's time to either double up, or go home.
