Bill Jensen Takes One Down

Bill Jensen has eliminated a player, calling a button push with pocket tens from the blind. His opponent showed A-J, but a ten on the flop pretty much finished him off, the fourth ten on the river for quads merely rubbing salt, vinegar and anything else acidic into his already gaping wounds.

Jensen now on 52,000

Alberton Triumphs In Three-Way All In

Cory Albertson is now on 98,000 after winning a monster three-way pot.

On an {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{J-Spades} flop, the small blind checked, Cory Albertson led out for 4,200 and he button pushed all in. Without hesitation, the small blind also slid his stack across the line. However, before his chips had barely hit the middle, Albertson was shoving all in too! Mayhem!

On their backs:

Big blind = {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Small blind = {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Cory Albertson = {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

Turn = {Q-Diamonds}

River = {2-Diamonds}

Albertson takes out two players.

Chen Is Climber of the Day

Bill Chen has enjoyed a second double up, just minutes after his last, closely followed by a dose of the old pocket rockets -- he's now managed to turn a dodgy 11,000 into a commanding 70,000 stack since the beginning of this level.

A gent on the cutoff raised to 1,675 preflop, and Chen called from the button. He called the cutoff's 2,700 on the {8-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {3-Spades} flop as well. The turn came the {5-Hearts} and this time the cutoff checked. Chen bet 6,000, called by the cutoff, and when the cutoff announced all in on the {Q-Diamonds} river, "I call!" cried Chen and turned over {8-Clubs} {8-Spades} for a flopped set. The cutoff mucked. Chen up to 56,000.

And then a few hands later, Chen was facing a preflop all in from an unknown opponent holding {10-Spades} {10-Hearts} -- Chen was holding {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, which only improved on the {2-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {A-Hearts} board. Up to 70,000.

Shorr Shot

Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr
Shannon Shorr has doubled up to around 25-30,000 after successfully slow playing aces.

With the button raising it up preflop, Shorr thought for a moment or two before smooth calling from the small blind. After check-calling 3,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} flop, Shorr then checked the {K-Spades} turn. His opponent checked behind.

On the {9-Diamonds} river, however, Shorr wasted no time in pushing all in for a total of 9,225, which was duly called. Shorr flipped his bullets, his opponent mucked.

Nguyen Hanging In

Scotty Nguyen made it 1,400 from the button, and the big blind called.

They checked it all the way down the {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {8-Hearts} board, until Nguyen fired out 2,400 on the river, chuckling, "I don't bet, I can't win, baby!" His opponent called, and win had won -- he flipped over {A-Spades} {2-Hearts} and his opponent just mucked.

Nguyen currently on 18,500.

Chen Doubles Up

Bill Chen has doubled up. He raised to 1,800 from the button, and then went all in for 11,550 when the big blind reraised him to 5,000.

Bill Chen: {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds}
Big blind: {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}

Board: {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {6-Spades} {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs}

Chen now the possessor of a 28,600 stack.

Pillai of Strength

An unknown gentleman made it 2,200 form the cutoff, only for a second unknown gent to make it 5,500 from the button. Shankar Pillai in the small blind (who won a bracelet last year in the $3,000 NLHE) eyed up the button's stack for a few moments, before announcing all in. Ketul Nathwani folded his big blind, the original raiser folded too, and the gent on the button called.

Button: {A-Spades} {A-Clubs}
Pillai: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}

Board: {10-Hearts} {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

"Well, that's a nice end to my day," muttered the now-eliminated gent who had been the button as he got up and made for the exit. Pillai now on 104,000.

James Fortunate to be Alive

Kenna James
Kenna James
The charismatic Kenna James has his head well above average with 49,200. However, he was close to being felted before the dinner break, pushing all in for around 20,000 into a pot of 15,000 on an A-4-K rainbow flop.

His opponent thought for ages, even suggesting that he was going to make one of his biggest ever lay downs. A hatless James, meanwhile, stood up from his seat and stared off into the distance as he waited patiently for his opponent to make a decision.

As the wait continued, the clock was called, but within twenty seconds, he'd made the call for his tournament life, showing A-4 for two pair. James flipped A-2 and looked to be in deep trouble.

However, running queens drew a huge sigh of relief from James who turned to his frustrated opponent, smiled mischievously and said, "Chop, chop."
