When in Rome

As Scotty Nguyen lapped up the blinds with a preflop raise of 33,000, he turned to Dario Minieri and said, "We're gonna go to Rome, huh baby?"

I have no idea what this meant, but it is getting late and they have been playing for over ten hours now.

Current Chip Counts

Play remains incredibly cagey, but Minieri has re-established his dominance, building his stack back up to its former glory in a series of very small pots.

Scotty Nguyen: 407,000
Seth Fischer: 306,000
John O'Shea: 690,000
Stuart Marshak: 250,000
Dario Minieri: 1,875,000
Justin Filtz: 815,000
Kevin Song: 633,000

A Smidgen of Banter

The tension may be high, but the players can still squeeze in an smidgen of banter here and there...

Justin Filtz: "Where did you get all your necklaces from, Scotty?"

Scotty Nguyen: "From all you guys."

Filtz and Minieri Chop One Up

Justin Filtz and Dario Minieri clashed in a battle of the blinds encounter.

With the board reading {8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Filtz led out for 19,000 and Minieri called.

River = {10-Clubs}

Filtz check-called 50,000 and showed {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. Miniero flipped {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Filtz Wins a Chunky Pot

It folded around to Justin Filtz who just made up the blind. Big blind Dario Minieri raised another 21,000, and Filtz called.

The flop came down {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {10-Spades} and Filtz checked. Minieri bet 38,000 and after a brief pause Filtz called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and again Filtz checked. This time Minieri bet 100,000. Filtz paused a little longer this time, but eventually called.

Both players silently checked the {Q-Diamonds} river before Filtz announced, "Ace," and turned over {A-Hearts} {9-Spades}. Minieri simply nodded and mucked.

Filtz is up to 765,000, while Minieri drops down to 1.59 million -- still a convincing chip lead.

Seven Remain

Whilst we await this final elimination, play has almost ground to a halt, nobody wanting to lap up that final day bubble. However, someone has to come in seventh, and with Dario Minieri at the table, it should come sooner rather than later.

Interesting Value Bet from Filtz

Justin Filtz limped from the button and Dario Minieri made it 53,000 in the small blind. Call.

Minieri bet out 67,000 on the {9-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {Q-Clubs} flop and Filtz flat-called him. They both checked the {8-Clubs} turn and Minieri checked the {5-Diamonds} river too. Filtz now bet a suspiciously small 28,000 -- and it was enough to make Minieri fold. Filtz didn't show his hand.
