Triple Up Raga

Frank Vizza raised to 17,000 from under the gun, and Ravi Shankar called from middle position with his remaining 12,000. Then Dario Alioto bumped it up to 75,000 from the cutoff. Vizza got out of the way.

Shankar showed {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Alioto {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

The flop was {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades}, and Shankar was in trouble. However, the {J-Diamonds} on the turn gave him Broadway, and the river {7-Clubs} meant he'd tripled up.

Shankar is up to 45,000 and Alioto is at 102,000.

Clonie Gowen Eliminated in 34th Place ($16,849); Steven Ware Eliminated in 35th Place ($16,849)

Double knock-out for Benjamin Hamnett. Hamnett had both Clonie Gowen and Steven Ware covered, and all the money went in preflop.

Hamnett {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Gowen {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Ware {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The board came {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, giving Hamnett the straight. Gowen had more chips than Ware when the hand began, so she finished a spot ahead of him. Both receive the same $16,849, though.

Django Young, out on the bubble
Django Young, out on the bubble
Kyle Kloeckner raised to 12,000 from the button, Daniel Makowsky called from the small blind, and Django Young called as well from the big blind.

The flop came {8-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Makowsky checked, Young bet 34,000, Kloeckner raised to 100,000, and Makowsky folded. Young made the call, putting the rest of his chips in to do so.

Young {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Kloeckner {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The turn brought the {7-Hearts}, giving Young two pair. But the river was the {6-Spades}, giving Kloeckner the runner-runner straight and making Young the bubble boy.

Kloeckner has increased his chip lead, and is now up to 680,000. The next nine players to bust will each receive $16,849.

Patience, Patience . . .

Jerrod Ankenman just raised from the button, and Patryk Hildebranski -- on the short stack with about 40,000 -- spent a minute or so debating whether or not this was going to be the hand on which he gambled.

Finally he mucked, and Ankenman showed A-A-x-x. Ankenmann has about 315,000.

Players are gathering around Table No. 62 now. Developing . . .

Watching and Waiting

We've played six hands since we've gone to hand-for-hand play, and the bubble remains intact. Each hand is taking a few minutes to complete.

Often when the other four tables have finished their hands, players from those tables wander over to the last active table to watch. The tourney director has asked players not to crowd too much around those trying to make the tough decision whether or not to risk it all just one away from the cash.

Forrest Wood Like Chips

Benjamin Hamnett limped from the button, Ted Forrest completed and the big blind checked.

The flop was {7-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} and Forrest bet the pot, a total of 12,000. Only Hamnett called.

They both checked through the {k-Clubs} turn.

The river {7-Clubs} came before Forrest bet 15,000. Hamnett called but mucked when Forrest showed {7-?} {8-?} {4-?} {6-?}.

The bubble continues....

Flack Settling Down

Johannes Strassman raised to 14,000 from the button and Layne Flack called from the big blind.

The flop came {K-Spades} {8-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The turn came {7-Diamonds} prompting Flack to bet 20,000. Strassman called.

Both still wary of each other, they checked through the {2-Hearts} river.

Flack showed {8-?} {8-?} {Q-?} x which was good for the pot.

The bubble time can be a very good way to accumulate chips for the stacks not in too much danger.
