Ware Says Whew

Michael Zowie raised to 5,000 from middle position, and Steven "Cornell Fiji" Ware reraised pot behind him. It folded back around to Zowie, who asked for a count of Ware's remaining chips. Ware had just 8,000 left. Zowie made the call.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades}. Zowie checked, and Ware put his remaining chips in the middle. Zowie thought a moment, then folded.

Ware is up to 55,000, while Zowie has now slipped to 15,000.

Mr Cool Melted

Marc Goodwin
Marc Goodwin
We've just had a three-way all-in encounter at the turn stage of a hand. The board read {7-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}.

The three players involved were Marc Goodwin, Kevin O'Donnell and Steve Saris.

Goodwin had {9-?} {9-?} x x for a flopped set.
O'Donnell had {K-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {6-Spades} for a turned straight.
Saris had {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {K-Spades} {J-Hearts} for the same turned straight.

Goodwin would need the board to pair to stay alive. The river came {2-Clubs} to eliminate Marc Goodwin.

O'Donnell up to 300,000.
Saris up to 183,000.

Short Stacks Get Going

Steven Ware raised to 7,000 before Tony Hartmann reraised to 20500. Ware then went all in and Hartmann called.

Ware showed {J-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {10-Hearts}.
Hartmann showed {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} {4-Diamonds} x.

The board came {7-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {9-Spades} {10-Diamonds}.

Ware made a straight to stay alive and double up to 42,500.
Hartmann down to 45,000.

Sixes in Reserve Help Hagens

Nathan Hagens opened with a pot-sized raise to 7,000 in middle position. Clonie Gowen reraised to 24,000 from the cutoff, and Hagens called with his remaining chips.

Hagens {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Gowen {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

As often happens in these aces-vs.-aces confrontations, the players' other two cards determine how the hand goes. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, giving Hagens a set of sixes, and Gowen couldn't come back.

Hagens bumps up to 80,000, while Gowen slips to 70,000.

Crunch Time for Short Stacks

After some preflop betting, Michael Schwartz led out for 15,000 from the small blind on a flop of {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Jared Hamby, on the button, thought a bit and let it go. Hamby has dipped under 50,000. Schwartz is up to 118,500.

Hamby is one of several players with below-average stacks who will need to tread carefully here as we approach the money bubble.

Shuffle Up and Deal

48 players return today and their first aim is to get into the top 36, as this is where the money starts. We have a fair few short stacks so they will have to gamble a bit to make it.

After the bubble bursts, the remaining players will hope to make it through to tomorrow and therefore make a WSOP final table.
