Tryba Doubles Up Barbieri

Al Barbieri had just lost a big pot. We caught up with him on sixth street in a hand against Chris Tryba. Barbieri raised all in with a board of x-x / {10-Spades} {8-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {8-Spades}; Tryba called with a board of x-x / {J-Clubs} {9-Spades} {J-Spades} {5-Hearts}. When the hole cards were revealed, Barbieri tabled {10-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} for two pair, tens and eights; Tryba showed {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} for just a pair of jacks. Both players missed the river.

"I didn't think you had tens," said Tryba. "I thought you were steaming."

After the hand, Tryba fell to 53,000. Barbieri is back to 24,000 again.

Johnny "World" Eliminated

Chip Jett has notched another kill. The victim this time is John "World" Hennigan. Hennigan completed with the {K-Clubs} and was called by Jett with the {Q-Diamonds}. On fourth street, Hennigan bet again after he caught the {J-Diamonds}. Jett raised with the {7-Diamonds}, and Hennigan raised all in. Jett made the call and showed {Q-Spades} {7-Clubs} in the hole for two pair, queens and sevens. That was far ahead of the king-high of Hennigan after he showed {10-Clubs} {4-Spades}. Hennigan couldn't make anything better than a pair of tens and has been eliminated.

Hennigan Needs to Win -- Again

John Hennigan has been crushed by Bryan Devonshire in a pot where Hennigan's kings were beaten by Devonshire's two pair. Hennigan is down to 1,500 in chips and in need of some pots, quickly.

Devonshire has 50,000.

Sugar Bear Still Snacking

It's been a day of swings for Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri. He was short once again, and got all of his remaining chips in on third street against Stefan Rapp. Barbieri showed {6-Hearts} {7-Hearts} / {5-Hearts}; Rapp showed {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} / {9-Hearts}. Rapp finished with aces up; Barbieri made trip fives to double up.

Thomson Eliminated

The day is over for Craig "Red' Thomson. He was all in on fifth with split kings against Danny Kalpakis and his buried nines. Kalpakis made two pair on the river to snatch the pot away from Thomson and send him to the rail, where he will collect $2,340.

Kalpakis is cruising with 57,000 chips.

What's in Your Pic-a-nic Basket?

Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri just got up from his table and went to chat with John "World" Hennigan.

"What's in the bag?" Barbieri asked Hennigan. "Anything I can munch on?"

Hennigan obliged by giving Barbieri some broccoli and rice.

Owen Mitchell Bubbles Out

The bubble boy for Event #35 is Owen Mitchell, the player who missed a big draw against Charles Moore just ten minutes ago. Mitchell check-called Ed Fernandez the whole way to sixth straight with split tens, getting the last of his stack in on sixth. Fernandez led the betting and the hand the whole way with split jacks. Neither player improved on the river. Mitchell was eliminated in 41st place.

The rest of the field is now in the money.

Hand-for-Hand

With 41 players remaining in the field, we are officially on the money bubble. The next player eliminated will go home with a story, but no cash. Everyone else will be guaranteed at least $2,340.

Charles Moore Ducks the River

It was a close call for Charles Moore with just 43 players remaining in today's field. He got all of his chips in the middle on fifth street, holding {K-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} / {K-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. He was called by Owen Mitchell, who showed {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} / {J-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. Moore caught the {7-Diamonds} on sixth street and the {3-Spades} on seventh street to river two pair, kings and threes. Mitchell caught the {K-Hearts} on sixth street, giving him a huge draw to improve on the river and knock out Moore. Instead he caught the {5-Spades} to finish with a single pair of aces.

Moore now has about 17,000 in chips.
