Villareal Dealt Cruel Blow

Eddie Villareal has been crippled in very cruel fashion. All the money was in on a flop of {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{J-Clubs} with Villareal looking in great shape to eliminate Stephen Carpenter.

Villareal held {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a set of sevens to hold the lead over Carpenter's {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}. However, remarkably the board brought a {J-Diamonds} on the turn and another {J-Spades} on the river to give Carpenter jacks full of kings, and the best hand against Villareal's jacks full of sevens.

After the hand Villareal is left with 10,000 while Carpenter survives to jump to 60,000.

Slim Doesn't Need To Practice

Yesterday we reported on a proprosed prop bet between Amarillo Slim and one of our field reporters, Neil Fray. You can read more about it here. Slim challenged Neil to a basketball free-throw shooting contest.

When Neil recently passed by Slim's table, he looked up and said to Neil, "So, have you been practicing your free throws?"

"No. Have you?" replied Neil.

"Ha, I don't need to practice!" quipped Slim.

Palma Doubles

The action started when John Wrona raised to 4,500. Peter Sullivan re-raised to 16,000 and Vince Palma decided it was time to make a move. Palma shoved all in for 39,000 and Wrona immediately folded. after some thought Sullivan made the call and the hands were turned over.

Palma had {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and Sullivan had {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}.

The board came {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} and Palma's Kings held up.

Palma is now upto 89,000 and Sullivan is down to 2,300.

Slim KO's Another

Amarillo Slim has knocked out another opponent here in the Brasilia room. Ira Flusberg was his latest victim.

Flusberg pushed all in with {A-Spades} {3-Spades} when the board read {7-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {K-Hearts} and Slim made the call with {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}. The turn and river brought no help to Flusberg and he was sent to the rail.

On his way out Slim told him, "At least you've got a story to tell."

Gary Goad Gone

Fred Berger raised it up to 4,400 from under-the-gun before Gary Goad moved all in for his last 11,000 from the small blind. Berger made the call and the cards were tabled:

Berger: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Goad: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Berger's aces hold to send Goad to the rail.

We're in the Money

With the recent eliminations it has just been announced that we are officially in the money. There a lot of happy seniors in the Brasilia Room as the announcement was greeted with a nice round of applause and a moonwalk in the aisles from Eddie Villareal.
