"Setup on One!"

During the dinner break, we spotted several floormen in a huddle, having an intense discussion. Subsequently, several decks of cards that had been used during the first two levels of play (but not all decks) were removed from the tables and replaced with fresh setups. With such an experienced field, perhaps someone spotted something a bit... irregular on those cards.

"Nut-Nut" Good for Fisher

Omaha-8:

Gene Fisher just scooped a nice pot when his {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {5-Clubs} was best on a board of {9-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} board.

Fisher brought Greg Mueller, Greg Raymer and Robert Mizrachi along for the ride but when Fisher flipped up his cards, none of them could even chop for the low as they each mucked their cards. Fisher scooped the pot and is now up to approximately 120,000 chips.

Gus Hansen on the Rise

Hold'em:

Before the flop Gus Hansen raised from early position and Chris Reslock called in the small blind. Both players checked the {Q-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} flop, and then Reslock check-called Gus's bets when the {2-Spades} turned and the {4-Diamonds} fell on the river. Gus showed {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} and took down a pot that pushed his stack up to 176,000. Reslock is now down to 40,500.

Mike Sexton Rivers a Straight

Hold'em:

Mike Sexton opened for a raise on the button and Ted Forrest called from the small blind. The flop was {8-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {3-Spades}. Forrest check-called a bet from Sexton. The turn was the {10-Clubs}. This time Forrest led out and Sexton called. The river was the {6-Hearts}. Forrest bet, Sexton raised and Forrest called.

Sexton showed {A-Clubs} {9-Clubs} for a ten-high straight and Forrest mucked. Sexton is now up to 104,000 while Forrest fell to 93,000.

If You Don't Have Your Health...

Todd Brunson and Mike Matusow were talking about a recent tournament where a player at their table was constantly sneezing and rubbing his nose...and then handling his chips...which were then passed around the table...yuck.

The two talked about how they were worried about getting sick right before the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E., and Matusow said, "This year is the deepest I've ever gone (in the World Series) without being sick." The "WSOP Flu" seems to have given us a miss this year. So far, anyway.

"Durrr" Quarters "Kid Poker"

Daniel Negreanu Gets Quartered
Daniel Negreanu Gets Quartered
Omaha-8:

Tom "durrr" Dwan just took the lion's share of a pot in a showdown with Daniel Negreanu. Four players saw the flop, but come the river it was just Dwan and Negreanu left. Dwan bet the whole way and Negreanu called him down.

The board ran out {J-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. The players showed:

Dwan: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} {3-Spades}
Negreanu: {A-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {7-Diamonds}

Both had the nut low, but Dwan's aces were best for high. He took three-quarters of the pot and is now sitting on a stack of approximately 81,000.
