Layne Being Layne

Justin Bonomo asked Layne Flack, "You wanna bet on how many players are left at the end of the day?" Flack replied, "Nah...I only like to bet when I know I can win." Flack paused for a beat and then looked to Bonomo and playfully added, "You wanna do a last-longer bet?" Bonomo politely declined.

Table-Side Dining

Mmmmm... Pasta
Mmmmm... Pasta
Some get massages at the table. Some listen to their iPods. Some go for the noise-cancelling headphones. Others... eat.

While most of the field seems to have taken care of feeding themselves prior to the start of the tournament, a few prefer to fuel themselves while playing cards. One of those players is David Singer, who is currently enjoying a take-out container full of a very healthy-looking veggie stir-fry.

Phil Hellmuth... we'll, he's not so much of a BYO kind of guy. We just spotted a Harrah's employee calling up one of the property's restaurants to request delivery of a meal for the Poker Brat.

"It's for Phil Hellmuth... it's like, pasta with chicken and tomato sauce with veggies on the side. Same thing he got last time. Just tell the chef it's for Hellmuth and he'll know what I'm taking about."

Gus Hansen Off to a Great Start

Razz

Gus Hansen is up to approximately 160,000 chips after making a wheel in razz against Chris Reslock. There was at least one bet on every street and by the river the players showed:

Hansen: ({2-?}) ({4-?}) ({Q-?}) {3-?} {Q-?} {A-?} {5-?}
Reslock (X) (X) {5-?} {9-?} {J-?} {5-?} (X)

Reslock mucked his hand and was left with about 79,000 in chips, while Hansen appears to be the early leader, now with just over 160,000.

That's One

After seeing his stack slip all the way to 67,000, Bruno Fitoussi finally arrested his slide. Playing Omaha-8 and with the board reading {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {A-Diamonds}, Fitoussi bet out and induced Rafi Amit and Nick Schulman to fold. "My first pot!" Fitoussi said, and incredibly, it was indeed the first hand he'd won since play started. He's now up to 74,000.

Rough Start for Tom Schneider

Playing razz in a hand with Bryan Colin, Tom Schneider called Colin through sixth street with a board reading {A-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {5-Clubs}. Colin was showing {5-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {A-Spades}, and when the final card was dealt Bryan check-called Schneider's bet. Colin showed {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} for an 8-6-5-4-A and Schneider tossed his cards in the muck. He's down to 67,000 and after that hand he stood up and took a slow walk to the rail and back. Colin is up to 112,000.

Thor Hansen Shows the Nuts

Omaha-8:

Thor Hansen, David Woo, and Patrick Bueno all saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {4-Spades}. Woo bet from middle position and Bueno called from the cutoff as did Hansen from the big blind.

The {K-Hearts} hit the turn and all three players checked. When the {J-Hearts} hit the river, Hansen bet and Woo called. Bueno threw his hand away and Hansen showed {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades} for the nut straight. Woo mucked his hand and Hansen scooped the pot.
