Steve Sung Shows a Winner

Stud Hi/Lo

Steve Sung and Markus Golser just clashed in a Stud Hi/Lo pot that saw a showdown. There was a single bet on every street and on the end Sung showed ({6-?}) ({8-?}) ({9-?}) {5-Spades} {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} for the straight. Golser mucked his (X) (X) {K-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {4-Hearts} (X) and Sung took down the pot.

Negreanu Settles for a Split

With his board reading {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} Daniel Negreanu bet out for 1,200 against John Hennigan, who showed {8-Spades} {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {5-Diamonds}. Hennigan raised to 2,400 and Negreanu chose not to three-bet, which he'd done on sixth street. Daniel just called and showed {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {Q-Spades} for an ace-high flush and a 7-6 low. But Hennigan had Negreanu's flush beat with his {A-Spades} {K-Spades} {4-Hearts} and the two ended up chopping the pot.

Brunson Bests Matusow in 13K Pot

Hold'em:

Matt Glantz opened for a raise from middle position, Mike Matusow three-bet from late position, Todd Brunson called on the button and Glantz called one more bet. The flop was {10-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {7-Clubs}. Glantz checked, Matusow bet, and both Brunson and Glantz called. The turn was the {K-Diamonds}. Both Glantz and Matusow checked to Brunson, who bet. Glantz folded and Matusow called. The river was the {4-Spades}. Matusow checked, Brunson bet and Matusow called.

Brunson turned up {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and an unhappy Matusow mucked. Brunson dragged the nearly 13,000 chip pot.

Annie Up for Ante Up for Africa

Perry Friedman Sports the "Ante up For Africa" Patch
Perry Friedman Sports the "Ante up For Africa" Patch
With a handful of "Ante up for Africa" patches in hand, Annie Duke is successfully distributing them to the players at her table and beyond. Duke is the co-founder of the Ante up for Africa organization which is a non-rofit group started in 2006 dedicated to raising money and awareness for Africans in need.

Aces Up for Isabelle

Stud

John D'Agostino (X-X) {5-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} (x)

Isabelle Mercier (X-X) {4-Clubs} {4-Spades} {8-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} (X)

On fourth street, D'Agostino check-called a bet from Mercier. Same story on fifth street. On sixth, D'Agostino led out when he caught the {6-Diamonds} and Mercier called. Both players checked on seventh street.

Mercier turned over {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} in the hole and D'Agostino mucked. She raked in the pot with aces up.

Bari Sklar Takes One Down

Stud

Bari Sklar and Andy Black just tangled in a hand of stud. The hand saw seventh street, but in the end, Bari Sklar stacked the pot. Here's how the hand went down:

Sklar: (X) (X) {2-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} (X)
Black: (X) (X) {Q-Spades} {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {2-Clubs} (X)

After Sklar brought it in, Black raised to 600. Sklar made the call. Fourth street saw Sklar doing the betting and Black calling. Sklar checked called an Andy Black bet on fifth street and both players checked sixth street. After the river was dealt, Black check-folded his hand after Sklar made a bet of 1,200.

Frugality, Thy Name is Mike Matusow

Tournament Directory Jack Effel has been handing out $100 food vouchers to the players and for some reason Mike Matusow yelled out that he "wants an investigation" and then offered to sell his voucher for $80. Of course in these troubled economic times stretching your food dollar is a wise course of action; perhaps Matusow is feeling a bit thrifty after spending $50,000 on today's event.

Phil Ivey Gets Down to Business

Razz

Phil Ivey just played a hand against Johnny "World" Hennigan. The game was Razz and the players showed:

Ivey: (X) (X) {5-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {4-Clubs}
Hennigan: (X) (X) {2-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}

Hennigan called the bring in, and Ivey raised to 600. Hennigan called that bet as well. Ivey bet fourth street and Hennigan made the call. When fifth street came out, Ivey bet again. This time Hennigan thought the better of it and threw his hand away and Ivey took it down.
