Mackey Gets Quartered

Omaha-8:

Lyle Berman opened for a raise from the cutoff, James Mackey three-bet from the button, David Singer called from the big blind and Berman called the additional bet. The flop was {K-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {2-Spades}. Singer checked, Berman bet, and both Mackey and Singer called. The turn was the {K-Spades}. Singer checked, Berman bet, Mackey called and Singer folded. The river was the {5-Diamonds}. Berman bet and Mackey called.

Berman showed {A-Hearts} {3-Spades} {5-Spades} {9-Diamonds}, having caught two pair on the river for high, and making 6-5-3-2-A for low. Mackey showed {A-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {Q-Hearts} -- the same low as Berman, and missing his nut flush draw for high. Berman won the high half and they split the low.

After the hand, Mackey had 122,000 while Berman was holding steady at 96,000.

Hollink Rebounds a Bit

Hold'em:

John Monnette raised from early position, Jamie Pickering called from the cutoff and Rob Hollink called from the big blind. The flop was {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. Hollink led out, Monnette folded and Pickering called. The turn was the {10-Spades}. Hollink bet again and Pickering called. The river was the {Q-Hearts}. Once again, Hollink bet and Pickering called.

Hollink tabled {6-Hearts} {4-Clubs} for trip sixes and Pickering mucked. After the hand, Hollink was up to 82,000 while Pickering fell to 88,000.

Lotta Action...

"There is more action on that table than on any other table here," said T.J. Cloutier as he looked over his shoulder to table 13.

While the comment is only Cloutier's opinion, one would be hard pressed to disagree with the statement.

Table 13 seats Johnny "World" Hennigan, Robert Williamson III, Phil Galfond, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Perry Friedman, and Tom "durrr" Dwan.

This Isn't Supposed to Be a Split-Pot Game

Playing hold'em, Minh Ly raised to 600 on the button and David Chiu called in the big blind. The flop came {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} and Chiu check-called Ly's 300 bet. The {10-Spades} turned, and both players checked. The {K-Spades} fell on the river and, again, both players checked.

"Ace-queen is good," Ly said.

"What?" Chiu said, and Ly turned over a counterfeited pair of fours. Both players laughed as Chiu showed {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts} for a chop.

"If I keep chopping pots with you," Ly said, "you'll end up winning the tournament."

"We're on the Way"

Apparently Allen Cunningham, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, and Patrik Antonius were all running late because they were caught up playing a cash game at another casino. Apparently they phoned a member of the media to let them know they were on their way. Lederer and Ferguson have since arrived and we should expect Cunningham and Antonius at any time.
