The Trans Are Coming

If your last name is Tran, you're doing well in this tournament.

All three of our Trans remaining, J.C., Theo, and Jimmy, have been working their way steadily up towards the top of the leader board.

In this latest hand, we catch up with Jimmy Tran involved in a pot on fourth street. The board shows {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Tran checks, and his lone opponent makes a bet of 10,000. Tran check-raises all in, having the other player covered. His opponent puts in his last 14,000 and turns over {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}.

Tran says, "Pocket sevens? You're killing me," as he turns over the best hand: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The river rags off {2-Diamonds}, and Jimmy Tran knocks a player out of the tournament. His stack now stands 95,000.

J.C. is My Savior

J.C. Tran
J.C. Tran
The other Tran, J.C., is in the same mode as his counterpart Theo.

Recently, he and another player got it all in preflop, with J.C. Tran in the lead, {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} versus {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

The flop brought a set for Tran as the board ran {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} , and Tran takes out another player, increasing his chip stack to 64,000.

"Dan Druff" Stays Alive

Todd Witteles survived an all in for his last 4,400 with pocket nines, one hand after he lost most of his stack by calling a player's all-in with {A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

The player had {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and hit a flop of {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. No help came for Witteles on the turn and river.

Witteles is at a little more than 10,000.

A Northbound Tran

Theo just keeps chugging.

From late position, Tran opens the pot to 3,000. From the big blind, an opponent reraises the minimum, making it 6,000 to go. Tran calls.

The flop comes down {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and both players check.

The turn brings the {J-Diamonds}. The big blind bets 5,000, and Tran calls.

The final card off the deck is the {3-Clubs}. Again, the bet is 5,000 to Tran, and he makes the call, showing {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. His opponent had {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and Tran once again adds valuable chips to his pile, which now stands at a whopping 147,000.

Oh Yes, It's Ladies Night

Over at Table 3, Nancy Todd Tyner and Lina Olofsson are running the show. Between the two of them, they have dragged in the vast majority of the pots so far in this level.

Look out fellas, the ladies are in charge.

Tran Dragging Pots All Day

Theo Tran
Theo Tran
We pick up the action as the flop shows {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}.

The player under the gun bets 4,000, and his opponent, Theo Tran, pops it up to 9,500. The original bettor moves all in for a total 19,000. Tran calls, and tables {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for top two pair. His opponent shows down {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, and Tran is poised to knock out another.

The turn and river rag off {J-Diamonds}, {K-Spades}, and Tran does indeed take care of business. After this hand, he is up to 131,000, and is the presumptive chip leader, blue hair and all.

JC Tran Gets Unlucky

JC Tran was looking good after calling an early-position player's all-in with pocket tens. The player had eights but spiked an eight on the flop and took a little more than 10,000 of Tran's stack.

Tran is down to a little more than 30,000.
