Prize Pool and Payouts Announced

A total of 1,592 players ponied up $2,000 for today's event creating a prize pool of $2,897,440. 153 players will be paid and players will earn at least $3,477 for cashing. The winner will be taking home over $550,000 this year along with the coveted gold bracelet.

At the dinner break, we're currently sitting with around 400 players remaining and an average chip stack of just under 16,000.

Myung Eliminates Cantu, and Then Another

John Myung has been on a roll. On this hand, an under-the-gun player, Brandon Cantu, and Myung saw a flop of Q-9-3. Myung checked from the big blind position and the under-the-gun player bet 1,500, to which Cantu and Myung both called.

According to Myung, this was the action:

The turn was a king, Myung checked, and the under-the-gun player checked. Cantu bet 2,200 and Myung called. The other player folded. The river card was a blank and Cantu fired all in for 14,000 after Myung checked. Myung thought and called with K-Q for top two pair. Cantu showed Q-9 and then mucked his hand as he was sent to the rail.

On the very next hand, Myung called an all in from the small blind for 6,000 with {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}. His opponent held {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and flopped two pair for John. The turn came the {7-Clubs} and the river the {9-Hearts}.

Myung eliminated another player on this hand and moved his chip count to over 65,000.

A Busy Day

Action has been a little -- for lack of a better word, uneventful so far in today's Event #7. While we had a few big names in the field, the majority of the well-known players waited until 5:00 pm to play the $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event. A few of the early bust-outs from our event can be seen playing over there in the orange section as well.

We always like to keep an eye on the pros, but it is quite likely that we will have several amateurs go deep here over the next three days.

Myung Not Messing Around

John Myung was quickly at it again. A player under the gun moved all in for his remaining 3,500 and Myung called out of the small blind with {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}. His oppoent held {A-Spades}{3-Spades}.

After flopping a king and seeing it hold up, Myung has increased his chip stack even more and the powerful player is now around 48,000.

Tran Chips Up

J.C. Tran opens the action from the button, putting in a raise to 1,200. The big blind decides to give him some action, and the two men go heads-up to a flop of {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Check to Tran, and he bets 1,400. His opponent check-raises to 4,500, and Tran smooth-calls.

The turn card brings the {7-Hearts}, and the player again checks over to Tran, who puts him all in for approximately 10,500. The player folds, and Tran pads his stack, now up close to 40,000.

Brenes' Shark Battles a Skull

Humberto Brenes is well known for his little shark toys at the poker table. In this hand, Brenes raised from early position to 1,100. An opponent in middle position reraised to 1,900 and then a third player, from middle position, moved all in over the top for 6,000. When the action got back on Brenes, he moved all in as well for a total of 5,850, spreading his chips all over the felt to confuse his opponents.

Brenes even moved his shark towards one of his opponent's skull card protector in his normal, crazy fashion. The player that made it 1,900 then folded.

Brenes showed A-K as did the first player to move all in.

The players chopped the pot by making a broadway straight and split up the blinds and antes plus the player's 1,900. Brenes gave one last chomp to the top of the skull after he collected his chips.

Sebok Gonzo

Joe Sebok has been particularly active in the past few orbits, raising several pots from late position. The action has been tight at his table, and he has made several comments about his recent inability to move up or down in chips.

Until now, that is.

A player raised first in from the button, cranking it up to 1,500. Joe Sebok moved all in from the big blind with {A-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} for a total of 5,000. His opponent made the call with {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} .

The flop brought {10-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} , and the turn card, {8-Spades} , made a straight for his opponent and left Sebok drawing dead. He is ousted from the field shortly before dinner.
