'The Razor' Doubles

On the last hand before the break, John Phan made it 4,000 in middle position and was raised to 9,000 by a player in the cutoff. Both players checked a flop of {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, but when the {q-Spades} fell on the turn, Phan bet 8,000 and his opponent moved all in for 17,325. Phan called and showed {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. His opponent had the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and was eliminated.

Phan is up to 52,800.

Theo Tran Keeps a Rollin'

Fresh off his fourth-place finish in Event #2, Theo Tran is at it again.
After a bluff on the previous hand, Tran picked up {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} under the gun and raised. A player in late position called and the flop came {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}. Tran made a continuation bet of about 3,500 and his opponent shoved all in for more than 12,000. Tran quickly called and his opponent showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. The turn was the {A-Spades} and the river brought the {a-Diamonds}.

Theo is up to 93,000.

One Out One Time

In a raised pot, three players see a flop for 2,500 chips each. The dealer spreads out the first three community cards: {K-?}{7-?}{4-?}.

Paul Andrzejewski is first to act, and he checks. The next player makes a small bet, and the third player, Eugene Castro puts in a raise, going all in for 15,000. Andrzejewski gets into the mix, moving all in himself, and the original bettor folds. The cards are turned up:

Andrzejewski: {4-?}{4-?}
Castro: {7-?}{7-?}

Things change quickly on the turn though. Andrzejewski catches lightning in a bottle when the one-out case {4-?} lands on the board, drawing a huge reaction from the table. The river pairs the {K-?}, and Castro, despite flopping a set, is headed for the rail.

One More For Theo

We catch up with this hand in a multi-way pot, as the flop reads {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. The player in the big blind moves all in for 5,600 with {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Theo Tran thinks for a few moments before putting his calling chips in with {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

He has plenty of outs, but he catches up in the sickest way. The turn and river come {A-Diamonds}, {J-Diamonds}, and Tran backdoors a straight to knock out another player.

Tran has been on a little run lately, and has chipped up to 41,000.

Quads at Phan's Table Again??

For the second time in less than 10 minutes, John Phan is involved in a pot with quads. This time, however, he gets caught on the wrong end of the deal.

The player in the cutoff opens the action by moving all in for 15,700. Phan is in the small blind, and he makes the call with {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. He sees the bad news as his opponent flips over {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

To rub it in ever further, the board comes {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, and Phan, the resident quad magnet, ships a chunk of his stack across the table.

So Easy Leif Can Do It

WSOP's Resident Caveman
WSOP's Resident Caveman
Leif Force just knocked out a player, calling a preflop all in with {A-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The player had {6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and missed on a board of {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}. The eliminated player sent his 6,050 chips to Force and the young beard-sporting Floridian is up to 25,000.

Tran's Connectors Connect

Theo Tran, sitting in late position, opens the pot to 1,800. The player in the cutoff pushes back with the rest of his chips, all 6,150 of them.

Theo Tran takes a little time to mull the situation over. "You can't have that big a hand," he says, and makes the call, turning over {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. His opponent shows down {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

Tran catches up on the flop, and knocks out the player when the board comes {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}. Tran has chipped up to 35,000.
