Phan Doubles Another

Ronald Brunstrom open-raises all in preflop, a total of 16,500 chips. John Phan gives him action, making the call and turning over {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} . Brunstrom shows {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} .

The flop all but closes the door on Phan as it comes {9-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} , giving Brunstrom top set. The turn and river, {3-Spades} , {10-Hearts}, fail to improve Phan, and he doubles up a second player in the first 20 minutes. He is down to 28,000, and Brunstrom has climbed ahead to 38,000.

Leif Forced Out

Lief Force
With a raise in front to 3,600, Leif Force pushes all his chips in--3,600 more. His opponent makes the call saying, "I hope you don't have a pair," and tabling {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Force shows down {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}.

The flop comes out {6-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {J-Hearts}, putting his opponent ahead with a pair and a flush draw. The turn is the {Q-Clubs}, giving Force some additional outs to catch up.

"Put a high card up there, dealer," he says, as the dealer runs fifth street, the {10-Hearts}.

"Yes -- UGH!" he said, as he realized that his rivered straight was no good against the flush. Force is sent to the rail, and the eliminations are coming fast.

Phan Doubles One Up

Richard Cleveland, holding {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}, got the rest of his chips--4,400 of them--into the pot preflop against John Phan. Phan had him dominated with {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} .

The board caught up with Cleveland, though, when he flopped trips on a board of {2-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} .

Phan half-jokingly mentioned, "You took a lot of my stack," as he donates to Cleveland's double-up fund. Phan still has 40,000 left.

It doesn't take long before we lose a player.

On the very first hand and on a very short stack, Brandon Blake is eliminated and makes his way to start the line at the payout table.
