It's a Mystery

It was folded around to Craig Marquis in the small blind and he raised to 425,000. And Chino Rheem, in the big blind. moved all in. For 16 million.

"Chino's all in!!" shrieked a woman from the rail. And Marquis sat there trying to figure out what was going on. He frowned and said, "This just doesn't make any sense at all." Craig shook his head and finally said, "Nice hand, man" before tossing his cards in the muck, and Rheem quickly pulled his chips back and started stacking them up.

14.7 Million Pot Builds Between Phillips and Hamrick, Ends in a Chop

Craig Marquis Forces Out Ivan Demidov

Craig Marquis
Craig Marquis
The action was folded around to Ivan Demidov in the small blind, and after he limped Craig Marquis checked. The flop came {2-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {J-Spades}, Demidov bet 250,000 and Marquis raised to 800,000. Ivan called, and when the {6-Diamonds} fell on the flop he fired out for 1.3 million. That's when Marquis moved all in, sending Demidov into the tank. He emerged about two minutes later and tossed his cards in the muck, and Marquis pulled in a pot that pushed his stack to 12.8 million. Ivan now sits with 8.2 million.

Ivan Demidov Survives and Doubles Through Chino Rheem

From the cutoff Ivan Demidov raised to 650,000 and Chino Rheem reraised to 2 million from the small blind. Demidov tanked for several minutes before announcing he was all in. And after thinking it over for a bit Rheem called as well.

And his {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} was better than Demidov's {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}. As the fans ducked under the rails and pushed close for a better look, the dealer spread the flop -- {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts}. Rheem flopped a set, but Demidov now had a flush draw.

A draw that hit when the {4-Hearts} came on the turn. Now there were calls of "pair the board!!" from the crowd, and with scores of people jamming the stage the dealer flipped over the {5-Hearts} on the river. Demidov got out of his chair to accept the congratulations of his friends and Rheem bolted out of his seat and walked out of the Amazon Room. He's now down to 8.4 million, while Ivan is now up to 18.7 million.
