This Year's "Rain" Khan?

Matt Ross is one of the more gregarious players we've encountered in the field today-- friendly, chatty, always talking up his table. In a recent pot, he got all his money in with {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} against an opponent with {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and took it down when he flopped a set.

"I win a pot with KINGS!! I get a WHEELCHAIR!!" he roared.

Mystified by his comment, we had to ask. Why a wheelchair?

Evidently Ross has a torn meniscus in his knee and has had some trouble navigating the crowded hallways with his injury. He's currently sitting on a 46,000 stack.

Aces Aplenty For G?

Tony G Chipping Away
Tony G Chipping Away
Tony G has been chipping away to build up his stack slowly after struggling through the early parts of the day. He has started to raise relentlessly in position on the button, and so far has yet to meet any resistance from the blinds.

They are aware of the situation though and when they mentioned how much Tony was attacking the blinds, he jokingly replied that he just kept being dealt aces on the button! I wonder when they will stop believing him? Tony is now up to over 21,000 chips.

A Set. To Wit: DeWitt

In a limped pot with four players, including Jason DeWitt, the flop is {J-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Everyone checks. The turn is {4-Clubs} and it's checked to an under the gun player who bets 900. DeWitt raises to 2,700. Two players fold and UTG reraises to 8,700. DeWitt calls.

The river is {K-Diamonds} and UTG bets 11,000. DeWitt goes into the tank. "Wow," he mutters to himself. "That's so sick." He calls, showing {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} to his opponent's {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and takes the pot, moving up to 70,000.

Jason Kang, You're Gonna Go Farha

Sam Farha has been up and down like a yo-yo today, though he has had a big stack for the majority of the afternoon. Now, however, he finds himself on the outside looking in.

He got tangled up with Jason Kang in a heads-up sizable pot. There was already more than 17,000 in the center of the table by the time they made it to the river. The board read {J-Hearts} {2-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. After the fifth street card came off, Kang moved all in with an overbet of 30,000. Farha went deep into the tank before making the call with {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}. Kang tabled {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}, and his winning pair of queens is good to knock out the accomplished pro.

Bart Hanson Eliminated

Just before the dinner break, Bart Hanson completed in the small blind and the big blind checked. The flop came {5-Hearts} {6-?} {7-Hearts} and Hanson led out for 1,000. The big blind min-raised and Hanson moved all in. The big blind called with {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} to Hanson's {6-?} {7-?}, and when the turn brought a heart Hanson needed to fill up on the river to stay alive. But the river was a blank and Hanson's Main Event came to an end.

One Double Berger, Coming Up!

Fred Berger, during Event #3
Fred Berger, during Event #3
Fred Berger has just doubled up before the break after flopping a straight against his opponent's set.

The flop was {J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and with all the chips in on the flop, Berger flipped over {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} against his opponent's pocket tens.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and river {K-Clubs} and Berger is now up to 14,000 chips.
