Duke Nuked

Annie Duke Busto
Annie Duke Busto
Annie Duke committed the last of her short stack on a flop of {J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, holding {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}, but found herself in trouble against the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} of her opponent.

The turn ended it all when the {Q-Spades} peeled off to give her opponent an unbeatable set of queens. The river was the {8-Spades} and Annie Duke makes an early exit from this year's WSOP Main Event.

Sica Set

Mike Sica, Erika Trenck and a player on the button saw a limped flop of {2-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {8-Spades}. Sica bet 750 that got called by the button before Trenck raised to 2,600. Both players called, so the turn was revealed as {7-Hearts}.

Trenck led out for 6,000 and only Sica called before the river came {4-Diamonds}. It seemed to scare both players, as they checked it through. Sica revealed {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} for a set and Trenck folded claiming to have {2-?} {3-?}.

Sica up to 35,500.

That's Why They Call Him "The Master"

With 6,500 chips in the pot, and the board showing {J-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds}, Men "the Master" Nguyen bet 3,000 after his lone opponent checked. That opponent then raised all in to 7,225. After some deliberation, Nguyen called.

Nguyen: {A-Spades} {4-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Spades} {10-Spades}

The river bricked out the {9-Clubs}, allowing Nguyen to sweep the pot with a pair of nines, ace kicker.

"I made a great f*ckin' call," Nguyen said afterwards to nobody in particular.

Mizrachi Takes a Hit

On a board of {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}, Michael Mizrachi led out for 1,000 and was raised to 3,000 by an opponent. Mizrachi called and saw the turn bring the {7-Spades}. Both players checked, and the {4-Hearts} fell on the river, with Mizrachi check-calling another 3,000. His opponent showed J-10 for flopped Broadway and Mizrachi mucked.

After the hand, Mizrachi is down to 21,000.

The Fourth Le

We missed a Le brother. It turns out that Nam Le's other other other brother, Leroy Le, is also playing here in Buzio's. They all signed up at the same time and ended up in the same location, though at different tables. Leroy Le has 30,000.

John Murphy Eliminated

On a board of {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs}, John Murphy and his opponent were all in. Murphy held {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} for trips with top kicker while his opponent held pocket threes for a full house.

Murphy found no help by the river and was eliminated from the field.

The Air Up There

On a flop of {J-Spades} {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} a player in the small blind bet 600 into Shawn Cunix. Cunix called. The same action occurred on the turn of the {K-Diamonds}. The river of the {Q-Hearts} was checked by both players.

Cunix showed {J-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} for jacks and his opponent showed {A-Diamonds} {2-Spades} for air.

Cunix takes down a 2,000-chip pot.

Cruel Exit for Bruel

With the board showing A-9-8, Patrick Bruel bet 600, Paul Fiore raised to 1,500, Bruel shoved all in for 9,000 more, and Fiore made the call.

Bruel held A-J having Fiore's A-10 outkicked. But a six on the turn and a seven on the river gave Fiore a backdoor straight, eliminating Bruel.

Fiore now has 22,000.

Freerollin'

Chris Overgard just made a huge leap forward in his quest to take down the Main Event. With 7,800 chips in the pot preflop, his opponent moved all in for 14,000 on a flop of {9-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Clubs}. Overgard made the call with a huge draw: {A-Spades} {7-Spades}. He was in even better shape when his opponent turned over {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. The turn {Q-Spades} made a lock hand for Overgard; the river was a meaningless {6-Hearts}.

Overgard is now up to 42,000. His opponent was eliminated.
