Eskimo Heating Things Up

After some preflop action, Paul "Eskimo" Clark got all in with an opponent on a flop of {6-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}. Eskimo held {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} and was ahead of his opponent's {9-Hearts} {9-Spades}.

The turn and river came the {6-Spades}, {2-Diamonds} and Eskimo eliminated his opponent and now has 37,000 chips.

With the Help of the Godfather

Fabio Coppola limped from under the gun, then called a raise to 750 from the small-blind player. The flop came {9-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {10-Spades}, prompting the small-blind player to lead out for 750. This was met with a raise to 2,350 by Coppola, which was called.

The turn came {7-Spades}, prompting the rest of the chips to go in. Coppola tabled {J-Spades} {K-Spades} for the flopped straight and turned flush. His opponent was drawing dead with {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}.

Coppola is back up to 14,300.

Lunch Time

An unknown player busted out of the Main Event and left the tournament floor. A few minutes later he returned to collect a half-eaten sandwich that he had left behind.

When the other players gave him some strange looks, he defensively replied "Well...I can't afford lunch now!"

Griffin's Lucky Weekend

With the board reading {K-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {6-Clubs} Cristobal Hidalgo checked from the cutoff, Forrest Griffin bet 1,000 from the button and Hidalgo made the call.

Griffin turned up {K-Spades} {6-Diamonds} for the full house and Hidalgo showed the {K-Clubs} before mucking in disgust.

"It's been a lucky weekend for me," Griffin quipped, as he raked in the pot. He's off to a good start with 27,000.

I Knew What You Had

I know what you have. I call.
I know what you have. I call.
On the turn, with the board showing {Q-Spades} {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {K-Spades}, Jennifer Tilly checked to a player in the cutoff, who bet 1,000. Tilly called. On the river of the {3-Clubs}, the cutoff player bet out 1,250 and Tilly again made the call.

The cutoff showed {A-Spades} {4-Spades} and Tilly mucked. She told the player, "I knew you had the flush. I pay you off on the turn and the river." She looked clearly disappointed.

After the hand, Tilly is down to 12,000.

Ladies and Gentlemen...

General Phil Hellmuth Arrives
General Phil Hellmuth Arrives
The Poker Brat, Phil Hellmuth has just arrived here at the Rio, in style as he always does. Phil was standing up in the front vehicle of a three-truck convoy of camouflage army vehicles. Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon assisted General Hellmuth out of his vehicle and ordered the eleven UB Army girls (one for each bracelet he's won) to "Attention!" Phil walked up and down the line of girls, inspecting them for duty. When they met his satisfaction, the General made his way up the red carpet, greeted by a throng of curious onlookers and shutterbugs.

After shouldering his way through the masses, Hellmuth has just taken his seat in the ESPN Featured Table, alongside Mark Seif and UFC'er Chuck Liddell.

Shaniac Showdown

Shane "Shaniac" Schleger, a bit breathless following the break, after having been outside watching the arrival of Phil Hellmuth -- about which, stay tuned -- was just involved in a hand with Joe Pelton. With the board reading {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Spades}, Pelton had fired out a bet of 3,200 and Schleger called without much hesitation.

Pelton showed 8-7 for sevens and fours, while Schleger held A-J for the better two pair. Schleger is up to 27,000, while Pelton has 19,000.

Mortensen Making Moves

Carlos Mortensen opened with a preflop raise to 600 and the small blind made the call.

The flop of {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} was checked around, before the {3-Diamonds} fell on the turn. The small blind led out for 1,300 and Mortensen raised to 3,400. The small blind made the call.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and both players checked. The small blind showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, which was good to take it down. Mortensen slips to 17,000 chips.
