In a Sea of Red Cards, Two Aces Are Best

Dario Alioto
Dario Alioto
An early position player raised to 2,300 and action folded to Dario Alioto in the cutoff seat. He reraised to 5,500 and the early-position raiser came along.

The flop came {10-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} and both players checked. When the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn, the early position player check-called Alioto's bet of 5,500.

The river fell the {K-Diamonds} and again Alioto's opponent check-called his bet, this time for 9,000. Alioto showed {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked.

Alioto is now sitting with just under 55,000 in chips.

Uncle In, Nephew Out

Joey "JoeytheB" Brooks, a frequent face in the biggest Atlantic City and online tournaments, is here with 105,000. "Grinding it out," he said, "as my nephew would say." Brooks' nephew is pro player Joe "Hoodini10" Udine, who busted earlier in the day.

"He's playing the $500K on Stars right now," says Joey with a laugh. "And checking PokerNews." Apparently, Udine didn't waste any time getting back to his hotel room.

Bold Bryan

Tim McKernan raised to 2,400 from under the gun and it folded back around to Jeff Bryan, who made the call from the big blind. The flop came {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}. Bryan checked, McKernan bet 12,000, and Bryan called.

The turn was the {8-Clubs}. This time Bryan pushed out 20,000, and McKernan folded. Bryan has moved up to 185,000, while McKernan has 27,000.

Marc Karam Eliminated

Marc Karam
Marc Karam
Marc Karam made it 2,000 to go preflop and Tony Hachem, who just recently got moved to his table, made it 6,500. Marc called and the flop fell {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {6-Spades}. Marc moved all in and Hachem called, showing pocket queens. Marc turned over {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs} for an open-ended straight draw, but the turn and river both bricked out and Marc was eliminated.

Michael Craig Eliminated

Jody Garaventa raised to 1,200 from middle position and action folded around to William Burdick in the small blind, who called. Michael Craig pushed all in for 9,700 from the big blind. Garaventa folded but Burdick said, "Let's gamble," before making the call. The players showed:

Burdick: {J-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Craig: {A-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}

The board ran out {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} and Burdick's tens were best. Michael Craig hit the rail while Burdick stacked his chips, which now approach the 150,000 mark.

Building the Fort

Patrick Fortin raised from the cutoff to 2,500. Salomon Cohen called from the small blind. The flop came down {8-?} {4-?} {2-?}. Cohen bet 4,500 and Fortin raised to 15,000. Cohen then reraised all in and Fortin made the call.

Fortin rolled over {4-?} {2-?} for two pair and Cohen held {10-?} {9-?} for a big bluff.

The turn was the {3-?} and the river the {8-?}. Fortin moved to 237,000 after this hand and is looking strong.

Noah Boeken Doubles Through Dario Alioto

Noah Boeken
Noah Boeken
A middle position player opened for 2,000, Noah Boeken called, Dario Alioto raised to 6,600 and both players called. The flop was {Q-Spades} {9-Hearts} {6-Spades}. The action was checked to Alioto on the button, who bet 14,500. One player folded and Boeken moved all in. After several minutes in the tank, Alioto called.

Boeken: {K-Spades} {J-Spades}

Alioto: {3-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, no help to Boeken, but the {J-Hearts} landed on the river and he raked in the pot. Boeken is now up to 97,000.

West is Best

How quickly things change. Not a half-hour ago, Andre Boyer had built his stack up to 80,000. Then, after suffering a couple of unfortunate hands, he was all in on a jack-high flop versus Tim "Tmay420" West. Boyer held king-jack, but West had him outkicked with ace-jack.

The turn and river brought no help to Boyer, and he's out. West has built up to 110,000.
