Markholt Eliminated

Lee Markholt (event #45) eliminated
Lee Markholt (event #45) eliminated
Lee Markholt was all in preflop against Hans Eskilsson. Markholt held {A-Hearts} {K-Spades} and Eskilsson held pocket tens.

The board blanked out for Markholt. He was eliminated from play after nursing a small stack for most of the day. Eskilsson is up to 65,000.

Big Stack Loose Play

Alexander Meidinger has just donated 28,175 of his stack over to an opponent after calling an all-in bet totaling the above amount. It turned out he was ahead of his opponent's {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} with {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}.

That soon changed, though, when the board came {K-Hearts} {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. He's down to 59,000 now.

Preston Makes a Great Call

Bill Elliot moved all in against Terris Preston when the board read {Q-?} {7-?} {7-?} {8-?}. Preston thought about it and then made the call.

Preston held just {A-?} {K-?} and Elliot had an open-ended draw with {9-?} {6-?}. The river was another seven and Preston's ace-king kicker on trip sevens was good.

"Good call," mentioned another payer at the table.

"You put him on nothing?" said another.

"I had him on ace jack," said Preston. "That guy didn't scare me."

"Clearly not," said the dealer.

Gazes Still Grinding

There haven't been any big pots yet today for Bill Gazes -- but he's winning most of the small ones. A player in middle position moved all in for 4,200 with {A-Hearts} {9-Spades}, and Gazes decided to call from the big blind with {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}. Neither player improved; Gazes' jack kicker won him the pot and eliminated his opponent.

Tim Carroll Can't Dodge Bullets

Action folded to Tim Carroll in middle position and he raised to 1,700. James Washer reraised to 4,000 from the big blind and Carroll made the call.

The flop came {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} {2-Clubs} and James bet 7,000, which was enough to put Carroll all in. Carroll made the call and the players showed:

Carroll: {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}
Washer: {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds}

The turn and river came the {7-Diamonds} and {J-Spades}, respectively, and Washer's rockets were best. He eliminated Carroll and took his stack to just over 100,000.

Great Flop, Horrible Turn, Ugly River

Preflop, Stephane Hornet limped in and Marc Karam made it 1,200 to go. Hornet called and saw a flop of {Q-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and Karam fired 2,000 into the pot. Hornet called and the {6-Spades} landed on the river. Karam fired out 50,000 and Hornet moved all in for an additional 15,300. Karam called and showed {7-Spades} {8-Clubs} for a turned straight while Hornet held pocket fours for a flopped set that rivered a boat.

After the hand, Karam is down to 70,000 and Hornet is up to 160,000.
