Greg Mueller Eliminated

Greg Mueller
Greg Mueller
Preflop, Greg Mueller limped in and a player in the cutoff made it 3,600 to go. Greg called and the flop ran {Q-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}. Greg checked the flop and his opponent bet out 6,000. Greg quickly moved all in and his opponent called, showing A-K, while Greg had flopped a set with pocket queens.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and the {J-Clubs} on the river gave Greg's opponent a straight.

Zachary Clark Eliminated

On a flop of {J-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Spades} Zachary Clark moved all in for 30,000 and Armando Pagliari made the call.

Clark {A-Spades} {2-Spades}

Pagliari {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}

The turn was the {10-Hearts}, the river was the {Q-Hearts} and Clark was eliminated. Pagliari is now up to 71,000.

Eids Need a Double-up

A player makes a raise from under the gun before Trond Eidsvig reraised all in for 7,575 from the small blind. His opponent called with {8-Hearts} {8-Spades} but he was behind Eidsvig's {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}.

The flop of {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {8-Clubs} soon saw that flip around, though, until the turn {9-Clubs} swung it back the original way, before the river came {3-Diamonds}.

The flush was good for the pot and Eidsvig is up to 17,500.

Varkonyi's Got a Big Pair

Robert Varkonyi in Event #13
Robert Varkonyi in Event #13
Tom Parr raises under the gun to 2,200 and Robert Varkonyi, winner of the 2002 main event, reraises all in to 17,200.

"Wake up with a hand, Mr. Varkonyi?" says Parr.

"No shame in doubling me up," says Varkonyi.

"Got a big pair?" says Parr.

At that point, with the ESPN cameras watching, Varkonyi stands up and motions as if he's unzipping his pants. "Wanna see my big pair?" he says.

Then, while Parr is still in the tank, the dealer starts chatting with Varkonyi, asking him where his bracelet came from, apparently never having noticed the massive photo of Varkonyi along the wall.

Eventually, Parr folds and Varkonyi rakes in the pot. He has 20,975.

Brown v. Dicken II: Get in the Ring

Wayne Brown just took another 50,000 chips off of Darrell Dicken after flopping a set and turning quads. He got Dicken to call a raise of 20,000 on the flop and a bet of 25,000 on the river. Dicken never showed his hand.

After this second encounter between the two players, Brown has 183,000 and Dicken is down to 30,000.

William Eichel Eliminated

Ziv Bachar raised preflop to 2,000 and William Eichel made the call. On a flop of {4-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}, Bachar bet out 3,000 and Eichel raised 8,000. Bachar then moved all in and Eichel called.

Eichel held {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades} and Bachar held {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades}.

The turn of the {7-Clubs} and river of the {4-Spades} helped neither player and Eichel was eliminated.

Bachar moved up to 67,000 after this hand.

The Ultimate Cooler

After a flop of {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, Peter Hanke was more than happy to get his chips into the middle holding {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. That was, until he saw his opponent, William Burdick, roll over {J-Spades} {J-Hearts}. The turn and river blanked for Hanke, and Burdick doubled through him.

Rheem Creams Another One

David Rheem has become a one-man wrecking machine. On a flop of {6-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {8-Spades}, P.L. Haslam bet 2,500 and Rheem called. The turn {4-Clubs} must have looked safe to Haslam, who bet 7,500. Rheem raised enough to put Haslam all in (about 30,000 more). Haslam quickly called and tabled {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}. The bad news for him was that Rheem outdrew him on the turn with {5-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for an eight-high straight. There was no board pair when the river fell {7-Spades}.

Haslam is out; Rheem has about 178,000.
