Gillis Damien Eliminated

Gillis Damien moved the last of his chips into the middle holding {5-Spades} {5-Diamonds} and got looked up by Yury Kobtsev, who held {7-Hearts} {7-Spades}.

The {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} board did nothing for either player and Kobtsev's sevens were best. Damien stood up and headed for the exit.

The Smell of Things

One table has a very strong odor of something familiar to many poker players, especially those that play in home games. We're not saying what it is, but it's pretty easy to guess.

Fikac Stacks Narkis

Ellen Narkis began the day with a little over 20,000 chips. About twenty minutes into play today, she got it all in with pocket tens and was up against Robert Fikac, who held {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. A king flopped, and Narkis couldn't improve thereafter. She's out, and Fikac now has 34,000.

Adam Friedman - event #8
Adam Friedman - event #8
Adam Friedman moved all in preflop against Wilbur Futhey. Friedman held {7-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and Futhey had {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs}.

Friedman stood up and asked, "Did anybody fold an ace or a king?" No one answered and the dealer ran out the board.

It came {Q-Spades} {8-Spades} {3-Spades} {9-Spades} {J-Hearts} and Friedman doubled to 22,000.

Grassnugg Flushes

On a flop of {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {K-Clubs}, Mike Grassnugg and another opponent moved all in against Tino Lechich.

Grassnugg held {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs}, Lechich held {J-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} and the other opponent held {J-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}.

Two players flopped Broadway, while Grassnug held a flush draw.

Grassnugg's flush filled out when the {4-Clubs} hit on the turn. The river fell the {4-Hearts} on the river and Grassnugg tripled up to 71,000. Lechich fell to 30,000.

Cova Doubles

Franco Cova has just doubled up after all the chips went into the middle on a flop of {J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Cova held {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} but would have to dodge some outs as his opponent, Sverre Sundbo, showed {J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top pair and flush draw.

The {4-Spades} fell on the turn and the {2-Hearts} bricked on the river to give the pot to Cova as he doubles to 23,000.

Lotta Paint on Board

Paul Wasicka limped from middle position, and Keith Hawkins raised to 2,000 from late position. Robert Melnyk called from the big blind, and Wasicka called as well.

The flop came {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}. All three checked. The turn brought the {J-Clubs}. Melnyk checked, Wasicka bet 4,000, and Hawkins called. Melnyk got out of the way.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, putting a full house on the board. Wasicka bet 5,000, and Hawkins called. Hawkins showed {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} for jacks full of kings, and Wasicka mucked.

Hawkins is now up to 80,000, while Wasicka has slipped to 12,000.

Zacharias Simeon Eliminated

Zacharias Simeon had unfortunate timing when he get the last of his 9,000 or so chips into the middle. Simeon pushed all in preflop with {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} and Dave Colclough woke up with {A-Hearts} {A-Spades} and made an obvious call.

Colclough's rockets held up and Simeon will have to wait 'til next year for his chance at Main Event gold.
