Here's a New Problem

Brandon Cantu just complained to a floorperson that he had too many chips on the table. His stack was so big, and comprised of so many yellow (T1,000) chips, that he had no room on the table in front of him to actually play his cards. The floorperson quickly vanished, only to return a few moments later bearing some orange (T5,000) and green (T25,000) chips. Cantu changed out 600,000 worth of yellows, and in the process cleared quite a bit of real estate.

Aces Again for Matros

Just before Table #1 broke, redistributing its players among the other two dozen or so tables left in play, we had one last interesting hand there.

David Saab raised to 30,000 from the button, Matt Matros reraised to 90,000 from the small blind, and David Benefield called from the big blind. Saab folded, and the two remaining players saw a flop of {J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Matros bet 130,000, and Benefield called. The turn was the {2-Clubs}. Both checked.

The river brought the {8-Hearts}. Both checked. Matros showed {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Benefield mucked. Matros is up to 1.195 million, and Benefield is at 850,000.

Double Elimination on Blue #31

William Soffin called a raise preflop from Mark Vos. Vos led the betting on every street of a board that came out {A-?} {J-?} {6-?} {7-?} {4-?}. On the river, Vos bet 150,000 and, without looking at his stack, Soffin called. Vos had flopped a set of jacks against Soffin's {A-?} {6-?} top and bottom pair.

When the dealer counted down Soffin's call, it turned out that he was left with a single yellow (T1,000) chip. He was all in for the ante on the next hand. Andrew Brokos opened that pot with a raise to 28,000. He was reraised to 75,000 by Jose Baeza. After deliberating his options, Brokos reraised all in and Baeza called all in for less.

Soffin: {4-Spades} {3-Clubs}
Brokos: {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs}
Baeza: {J-Hearts} {J-Spades}

A crowd gathered around the table as the dealer burned and turned a flop of {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Everyone at the table, rooting for Soffin's ridiculously short stack, started chanting, "Deuce! Deuce! Deuce!" Meanwhile, Brokos took the lead in the side pot and the main pot with a pair of aces. The turn and river didn't help anyone, coming {8-Diamonds} {4-Hearts}. Both pots were shipped to Brokos, and Soffin and Baeza were eliminated.

For what it's worth, Daniel Buzgon seems to be having a great time at the table. A cry of "Cocktails!" at the table brought a laugh from all of its players.

Rafael Caiaffa Doubles Through Jerry Cusick

Rafael Caiaffa
Rafael Caiaffa
The exact action is unclear but Rafael Caiaffa and Jerry Cusick played a big pot in which Caiaffa was all in before the flop for his last 226,000. The players showed:

Caiaffa: {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}
Cusick: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {J-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {7-Spades} and Caiaffa got the checkmark. He chipped up to about 550,000 and left Cusick with roughly 225,000 chips.

Bolnick Busted

Joe Bolnick opened the action with a raise from middle position to 24,000 and Charles Dolan made the call in the big blind.

The two players went to a flop of {J-Spades}{A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, and Dolan checked to Bolnick who made a continuation bet of 32,000. Dolan made the call.

The turn brought the {K-Clubs} and again Dolan checked to Bolnick who fired a second barrel worth 45,000. Dolan again called.

The river landed the {6-Clubs} and this time Dolan led out for 120,000 and Bolnick moved all in. Dolan quickly called and tabled {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a running flush which was too good for the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of Bolnick for the turned Broadway straight.

Bolnick heads to the rail as Dolan stacks up 754,000 worth of chips.

Riesenberg Rising

Jason Riesenberg just doubled up when his pocket tens held up against Dale Hoy's pocket sixes. After that hand, Riesenberg moved up to 385,000, while Hoy still has 610,000.

Soon afterwards, Reisenberg was all in again versus Virgil Beddingfield. On a flop of {4-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, Reisenberg shoved and Beddingfield called. Reisenberg showed pocket fours for the flopped set, and Beddingfield {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for top pair and a flush draw. Reisenberg managed to dodge a club, and he's now up to 795,000. Beddingfield has 225,000.

Alana Morin Eliminated

Alana Morin got her remaining chips all in preflop, holding {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} against Chip Jett's {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. The board ran out {10-Hearts} {5-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} and Morin hit the rail.

With Morin's elimination, only six women remain in the field.

Davor Lanini Knocks Out Paulo Loureiro

Paulo Loureiro
Paulo Loureiro
Lanini raised to 45,000 before the flop and Loureiro, having recently lost a big chunk of his stack, moved in for 150,000. Davor called with {2-Spades} {2-Clubs} to Loureiro's {A-Spades} {4-Diamonds} and won the race as the board came {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {8-Spades}. Lanini is now up to 1.58 million and Loureiro has been eliminated.

Alana Morin Loses a Monster Pot

Geoffrey Herzog made a preflop raise from UTG+1, the small blind called and Alana Morin called from the big blind. The flop was {J-?} {5-?} {4-?} with two clubs. The action was checked to Herzog, who bet 75,000. The small blind folded, Morin raised to 175,000 and Herzog called. The turn was another club and both players checked. The river put a fourth club on the board. Herzog bet 300,000 and Morin made the call.

Herzog turned over {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} for an ace-high flush. Morin, of course, held {K-Clubs} {J-Spades} for the king-high flush and her stack was decimated.

After the hand, Herzog was up to 1,700,000 while Morin fell to 256,000.

Marquis Undeterred, Keeps Calling Hellmuth

Coming back from the break, Phil Hellmuth had chipped up a bit, and was approaching the half million mark when the following hand took place.

Craig Marquis raised to 28,000, and Phil Hellmuth called behind him. The flop came {5-Clubs}{J-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Marquis checked, Hellmuth bet 28,000, and Marquis called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts}. Marquis again checked, and Hellmuth took a sip of his coffee before betting out 100,000. Again, Marquis called.

The river brought the {Q-Spades}. Marquis checked, and this time Hellmuth checked as well. Marquis showed {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for jacks and fives, and Hellmuth mucked.

Hellmuth is back down to 325,000, and Marquis is now up to 625,000.
