Chris Crilly Doubles Through Jeremy Joseph

Chris Crilly from Day 4
Chris Crilly from Day 4
After a {J-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} flop Chris Crilly checked from the small blind and then called Jeremy Joseph's 35,000 bet. Crilly check-called again when Joseph bet 50,000 when the {7-Spades} came on the turn.

When the {10-Spades} fell on the river, that's when the fireworks started. Crilly again checked and Joseph bet 150,000. Crilly then min-raised to 300,000 and Joseph almost immediately said, "All in." Crilly had just 175,000 behind and made the call, and his {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} picked off Joseph's {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. Joseph is now down to 1.5 million while Crilly rocketed up the leaderboard and now sits with 1.8 million.

William Purle's Wild Ride

With the board reading {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} on the river, David Benefield asked William Purle how much he had left.

"320,000," was Purle's reply.

Benefield set him all in and Purle called. Benefield turned up {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs}, having flopped a straight, cracking Purle's {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}.

After the stacks were counted down, it was discovered that Purle actually had 321,000 before calling Benefield's river bet. Purle was left with a single yellow 1,000 chip.

On the next hand, Purle was all in for the ante. His {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} made a flush on the turn and he was up to 9,000.

Purle was all in from the big blind on the next hand with {Q-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. Dale Hoy and Paul Snead checked down the {K-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} board, but in the end, Purle's queen-high was good and he took down the pot.

He's still on fumes, but Purle is now up to 28,000.

Tiffany Michelle Doubles Up

In round two of Outhred versus Michelle, Alex Outhred opened the action, this time with a raise to 35,000 from early position. The action folded to Tiffany Michelle on the button, who made it 110,000 to go. Outhred made the call.

They took a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Outhred led out with a bet of 150,000. Michelle then raised it up to 600,000 before Outhred moved all in. Michelle made the call.

Michelle: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}
Outhred: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

Michelle held pocket rockets but Outhred had spiked a set on the flop with his pocket fives. However, the turn changed everything when Michelle found an ace from space in the {A-Hearts} to give her a bigger set. The river was the {K-Hearts} and Michelle finds a huge double-up to move up to 1.45 million, leaving Outhred dreaming of the tournament chip lead with about 950,000.

Ben Roberts Eliminated

Action folded around to Scott Montgomery on the button and he raised to 30,000. Ben Roberts, playing from the small blind, checked his hole cards and then pushed his whole stack of about 150,000 into the center. The big blind passed but Montgomery made the call. The players showed:

Roberts: {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}
Montgomery: {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}

The flop came {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} giving Montgomery a huge lead in the hand. Roberts needed to catch of two remaining kings if he were to stay alive. The turn and river were no help as they fell the {5-Spades} and {7-Hearts} respectively. Roberts made a graceful exit, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries on his way out. Montgomery stacked up to just over 1,300,000 chips.

Straight > Set

Kellen Hunter and Dennis Phillips got it all in with the board reading {9-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}. Phillips had flopped a set with {3-Clubs} {3-Spades} but Hunter had turned a straight with {J-Hearts} {8-Clubs}. When the river brought the {A-Hearts}, the straight held up and Hunter doubled to 820,000. Phillips is now down to 690,000.

Can't Turn the Koerner

Bernie Koerner - Eliminated.
Bernie Koerner - Eliminated.
Pocket pairs look really good to short stacks like Bernie Koerner who are looking to double up early. But as has happened several times already today, Koerner's pocket pair ran into someone else's bigger pocket pair.

Ivan Demidov opened the pot preflop with a raise to 28,000. Koerner reraised to 100,000, folding everyone back to Demidov, who quickly moved all in. Koerner called all in for 262,000 total and showed {10-Hearts} {10-Spades}. He was in rough shape against Demidov's {K-Hearts} {K-Spades} and didn't improve on a board of {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {8-Spades}.

Demidov increased his chip stack to about 1,600,000 and simultaneously sent Koerner to the rail.
