Clonie Claims Two

Clonie Gowen
Clonie Gowen
In a PLO hand, Clonie Gowen raised to 350 from early position, a player behind raised to 1,100, Tim "Tmay420" West called with the last of his chips, Gowen reraised all in, and the third player called with the rest of his chips as well.

West showed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, Gowen {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, and the board came {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. We didn't get the third player's hand, but it didn't beat Gowen's aces full.

After eliminating those two players, Gowen now has 8,300.

453 Entrants

We're still waiting for word about the prize pool and payouts, but it appears 453 is our final number of entrants for today's $2,500 PLH/PLO event.

We've now lost about a third of the field, as 296 remain.

Bouncing 'Round the Room

Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske was just eliminated in a PLH hand when he took pocket queens up against a player holding 9-9, and a nine came to shoot down the Flying Dutchman. Jeff Shulman has also been recently eliminated.

In other news, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson has about 8,500, Greg "Fossilman" Raymer has 22,000, and Amnon Filippi has approximately 30,000. We're hoping Filippi starts constructing one of those eye-popping chip structures, as he'll sometimes do.

(Apologies to Dr. Pauly for theft of post title.)

Juanda Living Right

In a PLO hand, a player raised from late position, and John Juanda three-bet from the small blind, getting the call. The flop came {4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Juanda bet 5,500, and was called. The turn was the {5-Hearts}, Juanda pushed his last 1,775 out, and was quickly called again.

Juanda showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for aces and fives, and his opponent turned over {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for the nut flush. Juanda was in tough shape, but the {A-Clubs} arrived on the river to give him the improbable boat and keep him in the tournament.

Juanda now has about 20,000.

Ramdin Run Out

Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin was just eliminated. Down to the short stack, Ramdin was all in preflop in a PLO hand with {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} against three other players, two of whom were also all in before the flop.

The board came {6-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and the player holding A-Q-10-8 took the hand with a straight.

Short Day for Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth
We mentioned earlier how Phil Hellmuth had, as is natural for the Poker Brat, arrived late. It wasn't long before he'd found a hand with which to gamble.

After Hellmuth put in a minimum raise to 200 in a PLO hand, four players called. The flop came Q-10-3 with two hearts, and Hellmuth bet the pot, getting two callers. The turn was a seven, and Hellmuth again bet the pot, leaving himself just 300 behind. This time just one player, Danny Smith, called.

The river was the {A-Hearts}, completing a possible flush, and the last of Hellmuth's stack went in. Hellmuth showed Q-J-9-3 (all black cards) for two pair and a busted straight draw, while Smith showed J-10-9-4 with two hearts for the rivered flush.

A Chuckle from Chau

PLO hand here. On a flop of {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, Chau Giang checked, a player to his left bet 1,700, another called, and Giang folded. The turn was the {Q-Spades}. The first player bet 5,200, and the second reraised all in for only about 3,000 more. The first bettor mucked instantly, prompting Giang to rise from his massage and make as if to look at what cards he must have folded.

Giang wasn't successful (or that serious), and prompted a good chuckle from the table.
