Negreanu Rising

No-Limit Hold'em:

Daniel Negreanu opened for 2,200 from UTG +1, Brian Powell reraised to 6,500 from late position and Negreanu called. Negreanu checked dark before the flop came down {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} {4-Spades}. Powell bet 10,200 and Negreanu called.

The turn came the {6-Clubs} and this time Negreanu led out, albeit for a small bet of 8,500. Powell called and they went to the river, which fell the {K-Diamonds}. Negreanu bet 21,500 and Powell gave up his hand.

With that pot, Negreanu is up to 135,000 while Powell slipped to 34,000.

Dario Downed

Dario Minieri raises to 3,000 from the cut-off and the button makes it 15,000. Minieri moves all-in but gets quickly called by {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}. The diminutive Italian shows {A-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} but can't hit on the {3-Spades} {4-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {2-Diamonds} board.

Steve Zolotow Eliminated

"I thought it was at 3?"
"I thought it was at 3?"
Steve Zolotow made a bit of a late arrival this afternoon, rushing into the Miranda Room after one of our crack reporters ran into him in the hallway and asked him why he wasn't playing.

Apparently, Zolotow thought the Day 2 restart was at 3 p.m. instead of 2 p.m.-- a surprisingly easy mistake to make here at the WSOP.

Zolotow's stack had been blinded down to about 5,000 and he was eliminated a short time after taking his seat.

Arieh Chopped Up

Stud-8:

We join the action on 6th street where it's checked to Josh Arieh who moves all-in.

Arieh: {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}
Pablou: {6-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs}
Forrest: {7-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

Pablou raised behind the push and Ted Forrest made the call. On 7th, Pablou bet again and Forrest raised, Pablou called.

Forrest showed {5-?} {6-?} X for an eight-high straight and a 7-6-5-4-A low while Pablou flipped {3-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} for fives with a 6-5-3-2-A low.

Arieh couldn't beat Forrest's straight for the high and was knocked out.

Andy Black Eliminated

No-Limit Hold'em:

John Hanson raised to 2,500 from the cutoff, Andy Black reraised to 7,000 from the button, Hanson four-bet to 27,500, Black moved all in for 63,200 and Hansen made the call.

Black {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Hanson {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

The board ran out {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Spades}, Hanson making top pair to send Black to the rail. He's now up to 172,000.

Miffed Griff

Stud:

Chau Giang raised and Gavin Griffin made the call on the third with their boards coming out as follows.

Giang: {4-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}
Griffin: {9-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

On fourth street Giang check-called Griffin's bet with the same pattern occuring on fifth and sixth street. On 7th, Griffin checked and Giang bet, Griffin made the call and Giang showed {A-?} {A-?} {8-?} for aces up, Griffin mucked.

Griffin dropped to 9,000 while Giang went up to 35,000. Soon after, the world's only live triple crown winner was knocked out when Doyle Brunson knocked him out having made sevens and threes. Brunson is up to 95,000.

Danzer Exiled?

Stud:

Germans Jan Heitmann and Benjamin Kang have been sweating some of their compatriots, Katja Thater, Sebastian Ruthenberg and George Danzer.

Kang, "If George doesn't win this, we're kicking him out of the house."

Heitmann, "Yes, he'll have to sleep in the car."

As they were talking, Danzer bet on the 7th street against Esther Taylor.

Danzer: {6-Hearts} {2-Spades} {J-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}
Taylor: {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {9-Clubs}

After some thinking, Taylor made the call and Danzer showed {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} for Queens, but Taylor had pipped him on 7th with {10-?} {8-?} {8-?} for two pair.

Jurgens Bests Elezra

Stud:

Eli Elezra (X) (X) {9-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} (X)
Tad Jurgens (X) (X) {2-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} (X)

There was 15,000 in the pot when was caught this hand on sixth street, Elezra betting out and Jurgens making the call. Elezra bet out blind on seventh street, without looking at his down card and Jurgens made the call.

Jurgens showed {K-Spades} {K-Clubs} {2-Clubs} in the hole for kings up, besting Elezra's sevens and threes with {7-Spades} {7-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. Jurgens is now up to 57,000 while Elezra is on 28,000.
