194 players bought in to the $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event and after eight levels of play, approximately 128 remain. Daniel Negreanu ended the day as the chip leader with approximately 120,000 with Vanessa Rousso, Jimmy Fricke, Eric Froehlich and Nick Schulman not too far behind.

A number of top pros were among the 66 players eliminated on Day 1 including Mike Matusow, Greg Raymer, David Benyamine, Tony G, John Juanda, and Phil Ivey, who dashed over to play in this event immediately after winning his sixth bracelet in the $2,500 No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven event.

As always, official chip counts will be posted as soon as they become available.

Join us again tomorrow at 2 p.m. for continuing coverage. From the Rio in Las Vegas, good night and good luck!

Mizzi vs. Rheem

Stud:

Sorel Mizzi (X) (X) {6-Clubs} {10-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} (X)
Chino Rheem (X) (X) {K-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {K-Hearts} (X)

Chino Rheem completed on third street and Sorel Mizzi called. Rheem led out on fourth and fifth streets, Mizzi calling him down. Mizzi hit an ace and made the high board on sixth, betting out and getting a call from Rheem. Mizzi bet again on seventh and Rheem called.

Mizzi showed {4-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} in the hole for a flush and Rheem mucked. Mizzi is now up to 39,000 while Rheem is on 48,000.

Four More Hands

With ten minutes left in the level, the clock was paused and a card drawn to determine the number of hands that would be played before calling it a night. It was a four, ergo four more hands before we bag and tag.

Limit hold'em:

In a pot that was three-bet pre, the action was checked to Daniel Negreanu on the {J-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {6-Clubs} flop. Negreanu bet and both opponents called. The turn was the {7-Clubs}. It was checked to Negreanu again and this time both opponents folded to his bet. Negreanu showed {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} for top pair and the nut flush draw.

Two fans were standing on the rail watching Negreanu in the hand and after he stacked up the pot, he asked them if they wanted a picture.

"Really? That would be great," said the couple.

Negreanu playfully grabbed their camera and snapped a photo of them, before posing for a picture.

Negreanu is currently up to 120,000 and is, by our estimates the chip leader.

Berry Unhappy

Limit Hold'em:

Berry Johnston raised preflop to 2,400 and was called in late position.

The flop was {9-Spades} {4-Clubs} {7-Spades} and Johnston's last few chips went in holding {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} but his opponent flipped {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} and Johnston needed running clubs or aces to win, the turn {3-Clubs} gave him a shot but the river was the {8-Diamonds} and the former WSOP champion was eliminated.

Dragon Vs The Chainsaw

Stud-8

No, it's not the title of the latest Bruce Campbell movie, but a hand between David Pham, Hasan Habib and Allen Kessler.

Pham: {4-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {A-Spades}
Kessler: {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {5-Spades}
Habib: {10-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}

Pham raised on third with the other two calling before Habib led out on fourth, called in both spots once more. On fifth it was checked to Kessler who bet and again two more callers.

On sixth street, Pham checked his ace, Kessler bet and Habib folded with Pham calling.

Seventh went check check and Kessler showed {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts} for a pair of eights with an 8-5-4-3-A low. Pham had him pipped though, he flipped {A-Hearts} {2-?} {3-?} for aces with an 8-4-3-2-A low to scoop.

Even the Best Get Confused

Stud:

Showing 2-5-6 as his upcards in a stud hand, Josh Arieh's eyes nearly bugged out of his head when the dealer moved his arm to push him the pot, giving him a better look at the game placard.

"That hand was STUD?" exclaimed a bewildered Arieh. "I thought it was Stud 8!"

"We thought that you thought it was Razz" said one of his table mates.

Arieh couldn't believe his good fortune as he stacked his chips.

Mike Mouths Off!

Mike Matusow has been knocked out by David 'The Dragon' Pham.

Matusow: {Q-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {5-Hearts}
Dragon: {K-Spades} {9-Spades} {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}

Matusow was fairly cross at all this since both a nine and a king had been folded on third by other players but somehow Matusow was one-outed on seventh.
