Mark Seif Eliminated by Isaac Haxton

Mark Seif
Mark Seif
Chad Batista opened for 22,000 from middle position and Mark Seif moved all in for his remaining 210,000. With the action folded to Isaac Haxton in the big blind, he shoved over the top, having Seif covered. Batista got out of the way and the cards went on their backs.

Seif {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}
Haxton {10-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

The {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {3-Spades} flop missed Seif completely, and though the {10-Clubs} on the turn gave him a gutshot straight draw, it made Haxton a set. The river fell the {6-Clubs} and Seif hit the rail while Haxton stacked up 530,000 in chips.

Seiver No Moore

Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver
Chris Moore opened for 21,000 from the cutoff and Scott Seiver shoved all in from the big blind for the 95,000 he had behind. Moore called, his {4-Clubs} {4-Spades} in great shape against Seiver's {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}. The board ran out {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} {6-Spades} {3-Clubs} {4-Hearts}, Moore rivering a set to eliminate Seiver. He's now up to 400,000 in chips.

Clash of the Titans

We just watched an interesting hand take place between three of poker's current heavyweights: Phil Galfond, J.C. Tran, and Justin Bonomo.

Things got started when Galfond open-raised from middle position to 18,000. Tran, sitting to Galfond's immediate left, called, as did Bonomo sitting two seats to Tran's left. Total pot 74,000.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. All three checked. The turn was the {6-Spades}. Galfond bet 48,000, Tran called fairly quickly, and after pausing a beat Bonomo called as well. Pot now 218,000.

The river was the {7-Clubs}, completing a possible flush. Galfond took about ten seconds, then checked. Tran also took about ten seconds before checking. Bonomo then tossed out five green chips -- 125,000.

Galfond waited a bit, then folded. And Tran folded as well. With that pot, Bonomo (our current chip leader) moves up to 1.285 million, Galfond moves down to 800,000, and Tran now sits with 320,000.

David Benefield Eliminated

David Benefield
David Benefield
After David Baker limped in from middle position David Benefield moved all in from behind. Dani Stern flat called the raise from late position and Baker got out of the way.

Benefield - {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds}
Stern - {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

The board came {9-Spades} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {A-Spades} {10-Hearts} eliminating Benefield from the tournament. Dani Stern currently has 410,000.

Sixty Remain

With 60 players remaining, that means the average chip stack is 402,000 -- just over 50 big blinds at the current level (4,000/8,000/1,000).

Ivey Eliminated, Mizzi on the Move

Phil Ivey gets up after busting from Event No. 2
Phil Ivey gets up after busting from Event No. 2
After David "WhooooKidd" Baker limped from middle position, Humberto Brenes raised to 26,000 behind, then Phil Ivey reraised by shoving his last 84,000 all in. Sorel Mizzi then kicked it up to 150,000 from the small blind, pushing both Baker and Brenes out.

Mizzi {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Ivey {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

We had ourselves a race situation, Vince.

The community cards came {J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, and Ivey is out. Mizzi is now up to 760,000.

Another T.J. Sighting

Though he didn't buy in to the event, T.J. Cloutier spent part of yesterday periodically wandering around the tournament area, chatting up players at different tables. He's at it again today, going table to table and checking on different players' chip stacks.
