Matusow makes his exit
Mike Matusow just walked away from the tables and spat a single F-bomb. That was a pretty good one-word sumamry of what happened on the river on the hand that spelled his elimination.
With the action folded to him in the small blind, Matusow made it 25,000 to go. Keith Lehr, in the big blind, slid out a tall stack of green 25,000-denomination chips, setting Matusow all in. He made the call.
It was for Matusow vs. for Lehr. The flop was a safe-looking . The on the turn gave Lehr a gutshot straight draw, but the that spiked on the river made him top pair, eliminating Matusow. Hence, the F-bomb.
In a hand against Sorel Mizzi, Nam Le managed to flop a straight, holding on a board. Their chips got in the middle and his hand held up against Mizzi's for top pair. Le doubled to 700,000 while Mizzi slipped to 300,000.
Chip Leader Entering Day 2, Bruno Fitoussi Has Been Eliminated
Bruno Fitoussi began Day 2 as the chip leader, but one misfortune after another led him into the desperation zone, chip-wise, as we approach the dinner break. The struggle came to an end just now, as Fitoussi committed the last of his short stack with against Brian Rast's .
The board came , and Fitoussi was eliminated. Meanwhile, Rast continues to hover around the 1 million mark.
With the board reading on the river, Evan McNiff checked, Matt Glantz bet 183,000 and after a lengthy think, McNiff made the call. Glantz turned over for a set and McNiff mucked, his chip stack down to 220,000. Glantz is now up to 1,125,000 as we approach the dinner break.
A Disheartened Bobby Suer
James Mackey opened the pot for a raise and Tony G moved all in for 260,000 from the cut off. Bobby Suer called all in from the small blind and Mackey got out of the way.
