Walking through the room, we've found an amazingly tough table that's developed in the early going. In order, we have:

Jimmy Fricke is Sizing up the Field

Jimmy Fricke arrived late for his big blind, so he's being forced to wait an orbit before he can play a hand. In the meantime, he's putting his free time to good use, sizing up the competition.

His assessment? He told us he thinks the field is pretty soft and that most of the younger kids don't know how to play the game. We'll see if he's right as the day progresses.

Greenstein Takes an Early Pot

Barry Greenstein raised to 450 from the button and got called by an opponent in middle position.

Greenstein led for 1,000 on a flop of {7-Diamonds}

and got another call. Both players checked the {K-Diamonds}

on the turn, and Greenstein's opponent led for 2,000 on the river, which brought the {8-Clubs}

. Greenstein reraised for his last few hundred and when the hands were revealed, his opponent showed {K-?}

for trip kings.

"I can beat that," Greenstein said, turning over {8-?}

for a full house. Greenstein now has nearly 6,000 chips.

Event 30 - Pot-Limit Omaha - Day 1

Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends: The 2009 World Series of Poker here on Poker News.

Today's event is the $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, which is sure to attract a diverse crowd of talented players. One of the most popular games in Europe, we expect to see a number of international players in the field, along with some of the biggest names from online, including last year's winner, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond.

Players will start the day with 2,500 chips and be entitled to two 2,500 chip add-ons anytime throughout the first three levels, ensuring that we'll some great action throughout the day.
