Valiant Effort

After more than two days of play and nearly always being under the chip average, Eric Mizrachi has finally fallen. He raised to 45,000 before being three-bet by Brent Roberts to 140,000. Mizrachi only had 161,000 at this point and he shipped it in and got the automatic call.

Mizrachi tabled {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts} and was ahead of Roberts' {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. The board ran {2-Spades} {K-Spades} {4-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} to send Roberts up to 380,000 and Mizrachi for a smoke.

Ka-Powell!!!

Aces baby

Chal Letourneau raised to 50,000 from UTG before Jack Powell asked how much he had behind. When he found out it was 187,000 he made it 130,000 to go. It was folded back around to Letourneau who made a quick call before the flop came {K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {9-Hearts}.

Letourneau then moved in pretty quickly for his remaining chips and was snapped off by Powell with {A-?} {A-?}. Letourneau was in a lot of trouble with {7-?} {7-?} and it didn't get better with the {2-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river.

Powell up to 723,000 now.

Reed in the Win-d

Shawn Reed, short-stack of the day, has doubled up to about 100,000 through Amanda Baker. He pushed from UTG for about 40,000 and she made the call in the big blind.

Reed: {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}
Baker: {J-Hearts} {8-Diamonds}

{6-Spades} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {A-Spades} was enough to help Reed out of his situation. He's still one of the stacks under pressure.

Derke Derka?

Steve Sung eliminated Nicholas Derke just before the level change. It was a classic race as Sung held {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} to Derke's {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. The board came {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {10-Spades}. Sung on 370,000 as a result.

Heimiller Doubles Through Birkett

With a board of {9-Hearts} {6-Spades} {7-Spades} out, all the chips went in between Dan Heimiller, holding {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} and Stephen Birkett with {10-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. Heimiller needed a ten, nine, eight or five to win but the turn was {7-Hearts} reducing his outs to just nines or fives.

The {9-Clubs} came on the river and Birkett sunk into his chair. "Nice river sir," he said.

Double-Up Central

We've had a few eliminations and a few double ups as well. One recipient was Eric Mizrachi, who called a raise with {K-?} {J-?} in the big blind. He managed to turn broadway with a redraw to the second nut flush when his opponent set him in. He had to sweat though as his opponent had the nut flush draw. It didn't get there and Mizrachi up to 205,000.

Baked on the River

Greg Buonocore open shoved from the high-jack for over 200,000 with {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} and found a caller from the big stacked Amanda Baker in the big blind with {J-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. The board came {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. She got there by the river to hand an early day finish to Buonocore.
