Clements Dents Smyth

In another battle of PLO bracelet winners, Marty Smyth bet 2,400 on a {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} {8-Clubs} board, only to see Scott Clements raise him to 7,000.

The Irishman made the call, but the {J-Hearts} turn and {5-Hearts} river were checked down and Smyth simply mucked on the river when he saw Clements' {9-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {6-Spades} for flopped bottom set.

Clements has about 47,000 and Smyth is on 26,000.

Fricke Finds Double

With the pot already swollen on a {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, Jimmy Fricke moved all in for his last 9,975 and Nikolay Evdakov made the call.

Fricke: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Evdakov: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Fricke held the lead with his set of tens and it remained that way on the {9-Diamonds} turn and {6-Clubs} river.

Fricke climbs to 54,000 with Evdakov slipping to 7,000.

Eastgate Out the Front Gate

Peter Eastgate looked to have limp reraised preflop for 7,350, getting called by Erik Cajelais and Peter Gould.

The flop came {Q-Hearts} {K-Spades} {8-Diamonds} and Eastgate moved in for his last 8,200. Gould folded and Cajelais made the call with {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Hearts}, a strong hand against Eastgate's {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs}.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and now Eastgate needed a bullet to save him from defeat, but the river was the {10-Diamonds} making Cajelais the full house to scoop the pot and eliminated last year's Main Event Champion.

Break

The players are now taking a ten-minute break to color up the remaining red "rebuy" chips. Once that's completed we'll have a better idea of everyone's chip stacks and will do a full chip count of the notables in the field.

Good Hand Baby

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen
On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} Scotty Nguyen tossed out 2,500 to call the bet from his opponent and see the {7-Spades} hit the turn. Nguyen's opponent bet out 5,500 with Nguyen moving all in for just 100 more. His opponent called with {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for two pair and straight draw, but Nguyen tabled {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the straight.

The river landed the {7-Diamonds} and Nguyen takes it down. "Good hand baby!" chirped Van Marcus as Nguyen moved up to 16,000 chips.

Farha Rockets Into Flush

On a board of {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and plenty of chips already in the pot, Sam Farha was facing a 10,000-chip decision from his opponent.

After several minutes of thought he tossed out a call and his opponent tabled {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a queen-high flush.

Farha flashed {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}-X-X and mucked. He's now almost down to the felt and will now be forced to use his two rebuy chips.
