Gaspard Keeping It The Same

The Prince in action
The Prince in action
Jean 'Prince' Gaspard is someone that always stands out at a poker table.

Whether it be for his loud personality, bubbly demeanour or even his blinged out finger following his recent WSOP New Orleans Circuit victory.

But, just like yesterday, Gaspard is sticking to the things he knows best . . . the massage.

During his table shootout yesterday, Gaspard kept the same massage girl for the entire time he was playing . . . and it's no surprise that the same girl is back today!

Whether or not he's superstitious, or just likes things the same, Gaspard is giving it a crack at trying to add a bracelet to his circuit ring as he sits with an above average 185,000 in chips.

Filtz Slips

Phil Ivey opened to 5,500 from the cutoff and with the action on Justin Filtz on the button, he made it 17,000 to go.

Ivey made the call and checked the {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop to Filtz who opted to fire 21,000 at Ivey.

Having none of it, Ivey moved all in to put Filtz to a decision for his tournament life, and after mulling over it for a while he laid his hand down.

As Filtz slipped to 85,000, Ivey pushed over the 200,000 mark.

This Loaf Has Risen

Joe Serock raised to 5,000 before David Baker three-bet to 21,000. Serock then four-bet shoved all in and Baker called all in quickly with {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} and saw he was racing against {8-Spades} {8-Diamonds}.

The board ran {3-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {3-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts}. King on the flop good to see Baker up to 240,000 whereas Serock is short on 48,000.

John Monnette Eliminated in 29th Place ($16,740)

Not a happy bunny.
Not a happy bunny.
The flop was already out when we reached the table and read {5-Spades} {9-Hearts} {10-Clubs}. John Monette moved all in for 81,500 and after the clock was called on him Davidi Kitai called with {A-Spades} {K-Spades}. Monnette opened {Q-Hearts} {10-Spades} before the turn came {7-Spades} and river {A-Clubs}!!

Kitai spiked an ace on the river to send Monnette crashing out and he wasn't too happy at his opponent's play and voiced these concerns with "I can't beat these f###ing retards".

Ivey Arrives In Action

"Where am I at?" asks Phil Ivey as he casually strolls up to the tables.

Once seated he opens with a raise to 6,000 to take down the pot.

"I haven't slept in three days" he goes on to say to tablemate Jennifer Harman.

As the conversation quietens, our PokerNews reporter picks up a few bit here and there.

"Some New York Stock guy is in town . . . David Singer, Gus Hansen, Johnny Chan . . . H.O.R.S.E and triple draw"

Read into it how you want, but Ivey is here now battling it out for a shot at his third bracelet of the 2009 World Series of Poker.
