Day 2 Completed

Play Ends for the Night

John Kabbaj
John Kabbaj
After playing ten levels, the field shrunk from 85 to only 14 players, all of which are in the money.

Chip leader going into the day, Michiel Brummelhuis cruised through the early levels, steadily building his stack. It wasn't until the 16th level when he would give up the lead to well known internet pro Bryn Kenney.

Kenney carried the torch up until the money hit, surging to just under a million in chips after calling the all in of eventual bubble boy, Michael Pesek, with just middle pair.

Kenney, however, would give up his lead to current chip leader, John Kabbaj in a massive confrontation. Kabbaj called all in after Kenney made a fifth preflop raise; Kabbaj had pocket aces over Kenney's pocket kings. The aces held, and grabed over 20% of the chips in play.

He used the massive lead to continue to collect chips, ending the night with 2,026,000 - more than double that of the next closest player.

Play will resume tomorrow at 1pm PST where the final 14 will play down until a new champion is crowned. Come back tomorrow to follow all the action as it happens, live, at PokerNews.com

Lester Goes Fish

Jason Lester potted it to 70,000 before the flop. He was on the button, and Darryll Fish made the call from the small blind.

Lester had just 40,000 left, and he splashed them into the pot dark just before the dealer spread a flop of {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. Fish called the small bet to put Lester at risk. Lester was in fine shape though, turning over {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} to Fish's {A-Spades} {10-Clubs}. The turn and river were the {5-Clubs} and {7-Clubs} respectively, and Lester improved to the winning ace-high flush.

He's doubled his way to 240,000, knocking Fish back to 368,000.

Baldwin Wins Battle Of the Blinds vs. Alvarado

Action folded around to J.C. Alvarado in the small blind, who limped into the pot. Eric Baldwin checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {4-Clubs} and Alvarado check-called a 20,000 bet from Baldwin.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The river brought the {Q-Spades}. Alvarado checked for a third time and Baldwin fired out 67,000. Alvarado called him down, however, he mucked his hand after Baldwin showed {10-Spades} {5-Spades} for a straight.

Eric Baldwin - 650,000
J.C. Alvarado - 840,000

Vanessa Rousso Eliminated in 15th Place ($43,091)

Vanessa Rousso - 15th Place
Vanessa Rousso - 15th Place
On a {5-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} flop, Eugene Todd bet 32,000 and Vanessa Rousso raised the pot. Todd announced all in and Rousso called for her tournament life. She tabled {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} and was well ahead of Todd's {9-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}.

However, the {8-Clubs} landed on the turn and left Rousso with only two outs to stay alive. It was not meant to be, as the {6-Spades} was no help to Vanessa, sending her to the rail in 15th place.

Eugene Todd - 450,000

Action!

Eric Baldwin limped into the pot first from the button. Small blind Davidi Kitai completed, and Mohsin Charania knocked the table for a free flop.

It showed up {8-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}. Checked to Baldwin, he fired out 24,000. Kitai ducked out, but Charania came along to the turn.

Fourth street came the {A-Spades}. Charania checked again, and a second bullet of 81,000 from Baldwin was enough to win him the pot.

In the most action we've seen for a long while, Baldwin has moved up a bit to 495,000, and Charania is down to 260,000.

The Pace of Play

Well, so far there's not much to talk about in the past half hour or so. The remaining 15 players have really locked it down for the time being. Very few pots are being played with more than two opponents, and showdowns are virtually nonexistent. There is a fair bit of preflop three-betting going on, but that usually is enough to end the hand. One single continuation bet is about as far as we've gotten in a hand for quite some time.

Table 61 hasn't even seen a flop in about 15 minutes.

It seems like everyone really has their eyes set on making Day 3 and are trying to fold their way to the final table.

Florian Langmann Eliminated in 16th Place ($32,209)

Florian Langmann
Florian Langmann
Florian Langmann raised pot from the hijack and both Billy Kopp and John Kabbaj called.

The flop came {K-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}. Kabbaj checked from the big blind and Langmann moved all in for his last 29,000. Kopp raised to 100,000 and Kabbaj got out of the way.

Billy Kopp: {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}
Langmann: {6-Hearts} {6-Spades}

The board filled out {K-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}, eliminating Florian Langgman from the tournament.
